I like the title cut and maybe a couple other tunes from that album, but I have tried over the years to revisit it and it still leaves me dry. Definitely not in my top 10 Sinatra albums.
Cool news but everytime I get a notification that You have posted in this thread, I think we are finally getting news about a MAJOR Centennial release. I have high hopes! What can i say?
Look at this: http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/1...he_Popular_Frank_Sinatra_Vol_1-3-Vinyl_Record A vinyl record collection of Frank's Dorsey material!!! Is this legitimate?
I use this thread to announce "Signature Sinatra" releases from UMe/FSE. These began before the Centennial, and they will continue long after Sinatra's 100th birthday (which is not until December). I too have hopes, but at this point, I wouldn't call them "high."
Short of a huge turn of events, something wonderful IS coming...and that's not gossip. Patience will be rewarded. That's all I can say right now.
I hope it's along the lines of the Nat Cole 10 cd/dvd box set coming out in Oct. also do you know if it's multi-labels.
MMM's starting to sound like Dave Bowman in "2010." http://www.hark.com/clips/jtkpdvvnrq-something-wonderful Get on with it!!! Just kidding, MMM. I know you can't spill the beans...
I only added that info because I didn't want people to feel nothing big is coming this year. Wasn't thinking of any particular label/era of Mr. Sinatra's career. Some posts reminded me of the concern during the wait for the MoFi hybrid discs of SWINGIN' LOVERS! and A SWINGIN' AFFAIR!. So I thought it best to lead us down the right path to righteousness and all that other mother jazz, in the right tempo. ...and no, this has nothing to do with any potential Sinatra/MoFi releases. I honestly do not have any idea about that...
Many thanks for sharing, Bob. Seems if I have forgotten about that thread Not to hijack this thread again, but it's a true shame that the Columbia period is still the period best represented in the digital era - in terms of sound quality AND presentation.
Once this thing is announced, am I going to feel dumb for buying all of the reissue LPs? (I'm not one for keeping multiples in my library.)
