Only a few days ago I heard a radio performance of Sinatra singing "You Call It Madness But I Call It Love". I hope it is on this set.

They are also showing a single CD coming a week later called "Voice" but no indication of the label so who knows?

I'm really looking forward to this - there are so many great radio performances by FS that are unavailable on official CDs. Hopefully this will be just the start of unearthing all the treasures that have survived on transcription disks...

On the CUNY TV show "Italics" Chuck was interviewed. He says the box will have 100 songs covering the period 1935-1955. "98% are songs he never recorded". Granata says he also working on another Sinatra book.

The dates he gives: 35-55 begs the question if we will finally see the release of some of the "To Be Perfectly Frank" radio recordings?

Sinatra gave an earnest, heartfelt, low-key performance. In many ways it was a foreshadowing of what was to come later.

It is still quite far from being a great film. Someone was playing "pat-hand" when they made that comment.

    :)

Ron, we're still working on the set. I am honored to be part of it, and have this long unreleased material finally available officially in the box. There should be an announcement sometime in September - until then, I'll let Chuck's video do the talking.

Wow! That is brilliant news! :D
I'm very glad as well that Granata is behind this project, he's always given us the very best in his work for the Sinatra catalog. I'm glad some forums members such as MMM are a part of this as well.

Every Sinatra fan on this forum is so informative and dedicated that you should all be on a regular salary with the Sinatra family! :D

Chuck has responded on the SFF and has given me a "YES" answer to my question about the inclusion of "TBPF" recordings.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a box set!

I was always curious about who actually owned the rights to the TBPF recordings. Was it Sony all along?

I would assume Sinatra Enterprises claimed ownership. But that question too will be answered...in Nov.

TO BE PERFECTLY FRANK was an NBC Radio program. However, some material from it has been licensed for A VOICE ON AIR.

    Thanks, Martin!

I always thought it wasn't connected to a record label since Frank was basically in between labels at the time.

He wasn't between labels long. "TBPF" falls in the early Capitol period.

Amazon France also has it listed.

  25. Bob, do you know what the packaging will be like for these Japanese reissues? Vinyl replicas, digipacks, or jewel cases?
