I don't know why people hated the movie.Gary Oldman & William Hurt are great actors. I wish they had made another one.

  5. The writing was wildly uneven going from good to bad from scene to scene. The CGI monkey was a disaster and the plot was recycled crap. Hurt and Oldman elevate the material certainly and the visuals of the Jupiter 2 were I pressive vut, frankly, it's just above Batman and Robin as enjoyable crap IMHO.

it would have been a huge success if Jonathan & Bill were in the time warp.

And also, the family were reduced to dysfunctional 90s stereotypes. That's the complete opposite of how The Robinsons are supposed to interact. The movie was an abomination and is rightly forgotten.

I really like it, even with its "problems".

In fact I love it, and realize it is what it is, but it works for me. Great flick.

I have seen several of these 1960's TV shows on the retro channels.

I feel bad for people growing up then.
Everything was silly, cheesy, and mostly goofy shows.
I mean for adults, having to sit thru stuff that was so childish!
It seems like TV back then was for 7-15 year olds mostly.

There were some better shows. But we didint know any better. We only had 8 stations in LA. Smaller cities sometimes only had 3-4 stations.

Don't feel bad; we had something then that is sorely lacking today: FUN. :)

Too bad we kids didn't have "Jackass", "Jersey Shore", "Keeping Up With The Kardashians", "Fear Factor", "Two Broke Girls", "Honey Boo Boo", "Cops", "Toddlers and Tiaras", "Tattoo Nightmares", "Hoarders", "Worst Car Accidents!", "When Animals Attack!", "Sex Slaves", "Anna Nicole Smith", "Dating Naked", "My Five Wives", "Jerry Springer", and so forth. These are ideas that even the best science fiction writers and Irwin Allen in the '6os could never have concocted.

The kids had LOST IN SPACE. Adults had STAR TREK. I love them both.
We had more good stuff to watch, even with fewer channels. While channel surfing these days I see how much junk is on today. Several hundred channels and nuthin on! (wasn't there a song like that?). :)

    Dr. Pepper What, me worry?

There is so much good television on now, it's impossible to watch even a decent part of it all.

I had Battlestar Galactica (new and great one), Lost, Seinfeld, The 100, Wayward Pines, Breaking Bad, Orange is the new black, and a dozen more I consider fantastic.

If old star trek is the best the 60's could do......:help:

Although I am a fan of 50's and 60's Twilight zone!
The list of silly shows I have seen from back then......ugh.!

    Gomer pyle
    I dream of Jeannie
    Lost in space
    Gilligans island

Not horrible, but every one makes me cringe...lol

So you name off a bunch of bad reality shows.
What was the 10 best of the 60's?
You only mention Old star trek.

Like I said in my other quote, we had FUN. And so, I do consider shows like "I Dream of Jeannie", "McHale's Navy", "The Addams Family", "Batman" or "The Munsters" to be fun. It's not all about seriousness and negative and misery, and I was talking about having a good time.

It's all a matter of opinion, but in addition to "Star Trek" I'd offer up "The Fugitive", "The Twilight Zone", "Gunsmoke", "The Outer Limits", "Alfred Hitchock Presents", "Bonanza", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "Get Smart", "Candid Camera", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E", "The Carol Burnett Show", "The Avengers"...

..."Mission: Impossible", "The Prisoner", "Secret Agent (Danger Man)", "The Defenders", "East Side West Side", "Have Gun Will Travel", "Rawhide", "The F.B.I.", "Route 66", "77 Sunset Strip", "Checkmate", "12 O'Clock High", "The Rat Patrol", "Combat", "The Virginian", "Hawaii Five-O"...

And just think, many of these aired in the same weeks, for nearly 30 episodes a year. Now we get six or seven and they call it a season!

Yep, I can forgive everything else, but not that! Especially, since it is written so perfectly for them!

Did they ask for too much money or something?

    And I was 7-15 1964-1972...so yeah...those shows were perfect ! :D

Even the adult shows like Hawaii 5-0 were fantastic ! STILL better than the newer remake and I LOVE Grace Park.
