My girlfriend and I will be spending time in Denmark and Sweden next month and I would appreciate forum recommendations for music shopping in Copenhagen and Stockholm while we're there. I collect both vinyl and CDs and would like suggestions for both. Thanks!

Make sure you also visit Accord on Vesterbrogade 63. Both vinyl and cds.

I hope you'll have a great time in Denmark!

Can second Pet Sounds, went in a few years back and was impressed. Left with a few good staff recommendations too.

There's also a very good shop not too far from Pet Sounds that specialises in reggae if that's your bag. At least it was there a few years back. The owner was busy knitting a red, green and gold beany hat while he served me! My kids and I would also suggest a visit to Chokladkoppen in Gamla Stan. They do fantastic hot chocolate and an amazing white chocolate cheesecake. :pineapple:

Just went to Accord in Copenhagen a few days ago. The one on Nørrebrogade. Did not look at vinyl, but they have a lot of different and special stuff. And reasonable pricing.

The Stockholm recommendations are spot on. Nostalgipalatset (http://www.nostalgipalatset.com/se/) is Sweden's biggest store for used vinyl. The prices are quite high, lots of Russians shopping there. But it's a must-visit.
St. Eriksgatan have several used record stores.
For cds, you'll get the best value at this place http://www.stockholmsserieoskivhandel.se/ . Used cds in mint condition are usually priced at 4-5 Euros.

I realize this is a lot to ask, but if the OP (or anyone in Denmark) happens to spot a T-shirt (or even recent event concert poster) for sale in a shop for Danish superstars Dizzy Mizz Lizzy please let me know. I am a HUGE fan. Have been in touch with their merch lady on the current tour and almost finally got a shirt but they sold out of my size (Medium) b4 I could get one.

    Thanks.

Thanks to everybody for all of the suggestions! We had a wonderful trip and loved our time in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Malmo. Excellent food, friendly people and efficient, easy to use transit systems. We were able to attend Bob Dylan concerts in Malmo and Copenhagen and also met some of the masterminds behind some of the unofficial Dylan albums and CDs. My girlfriend and I also eloped while in Copenhagen!

We did visit most of the stores that you recommended, and I brought home a giant bag filled with a few hundred records and CDs, mostly inexpensive German and Scandinavian pressings of albums by Prince, Bowie, 70s Genesis, U2, Kate Bush and many others. Accord probably had the lowest prices, and Nostalgipalatset had the most impressive selection. The only store I was disappointed with was Route 66, but that was only because the woman working in the store was chain-smoking while sitting behind the counter. I am surprised they would allow smoking in the store since most record collectors avoid vinyl that has been exposed to smoke.

So thank you again for the comments and advice! We hope to visit again in a few years.

I actually did keep an eye out for anything related to Dizzy Mizz Lizzy but unfortunately didn't see any shirts or posters. Most of the stores over there only sold vinyl and CDs and very little merchandise.
