They're even selling blanks, it really is the 80s again.
My band just put out a cassette, it's way cheaper to produce than LPs.

I wonder if they have that new cassette smell? I can still remember it 25 years after I bought my last cassette.

Part of me scoffs (and I have about 500 cassettes) bit I think cassettes can seem cooler, better and more tangible than CD's for some people. The sound? More often not, not great, but I understand it...

I used to love cassettes when I was a kid. I was absolutely enthralled by them.

Picked up one of these on eBay for $36.00. The Pioneer CT-S800.
Seller said "door won't open" (of course it won't; it is a powered door and needed a new belt.) New belt kit from Pioneer parts, azimuth alignment and de-mag and it is good as new. 3 Head Dolby HX Pro MSRP copper chassis - $799.00 in 1989.
This is a good one to look for - many sellers don't know what it is, they're rare but do turn up.

That's actually a pretty good dead for the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack if that's the replica from the film. Those were going for about 50 bucks last I saw.

I abhor the word "hipster" but selling cassettes is perfect for Urban Outfitters. It's truly one of the places the word "hipster" takes up residence. Total silliness.

Is it cheaper than producing a cd? Just curious. I have no idea about these things.

I wonder if they'll start selling Crosley cassette players?

I sold a used cassette of New Order's Substance on Amazon for $13 recently. I find it hard to believe anybody would pay that even if they are great songs. I sent them a bonus tape of the Regret cassette single since it has been sitting around for 15 years unplayed.

It's like you read my mind. "Hipster" was the very first thought that popped into my head.

I'm just gonna pop in to say Hipster.

I don't really have anything else to contribute beyond that.

My parents have one of those. They've probably played a CD on it maybe 5 times and nothing else.

I have about 5 so there's that. I dumped the other 50 I had years ago when other portable mediums showed up. Portability was the only reason I cared about cassettes.

Here we go with the hipster stuff again. Every damn cassette thread these comments pop up. So they're hipsters and they buy old tech because its 'hip' again. I don't buy cassettes myself, but I find looking down on people that do ridiculous. I don't understand how any of it hurts your hobby of choice.

There's a weird elitist attitude in certain cross sections of these forums that's becoming a real turn off.

Depending on the quantity ordered and where you get them from, it is more than likely around the same price as CDs.
Problem for many is that people rarely want to buy CDs from certain types of bands. They often don't sell very well. BTW the cassettes most often come with download codes for people without players.
