Oh come on... Harrison got away with playing a 70 year old Han Solo, but he's too old to play Indy now... it's too physical for a 75 year old man, even one in good shape like him.

It will come out 11 years after Crystal Skull and he was pushing it then!!

Depends if he's the action hero or the wise old professor...

I've still never seen Crystal Skull. I'm fine with keeping it as a trilogy in my head.

There's like a 1% chance this will be good. And I think the baseline for even that 1% chance is zero involvement by George Lucas.

I'd rather see them do a semi-reboot of the franchise where they simply drop another actor into the role of Indy (a la James Bond) and place the film somewhere in the middle of the existing trilogy's timeline. Just another random Indiana Jones adventure we hadn't seen before. That would have maybe a 5% chance of being good, at least. Ford playing the character at his age just seems ridiculous at this point. Like someone else said, they were already pushing the age plausibility even in Crystal Skull, a decade earlier!

Age has absolutely no bearing on whether or not it will be good.

I'd say it has some bearing. More concerning to me will be George Lucas' potential involvement. If he's involved in any meaningful way, I think we can pretty much write the movie off way ahead of time.

Indy will be older than the relic he is trying to find.

There was no mention of George in the article. I think it's the same deal as Star Wars -- he's sold it and washed his hands of it.

IIRC Lucas held them back from doing the fourth movie for ages because he kept rejecting ideas, and then his final idea didn't really work out... so I suspect no one sees him as integral to the series anymore. Though some Star Wars fans found they missed his imagination in the new movie more than they thought they would.

Good Lord. Not a single detail about the movie outside of release date and director and you guys are already bashing it.

I'm (cautiously) optimistic that lessons were learned from the Crystal Skull fiasco and that Harrison Ford's age will be appropriately addressed.

Of course, I could be wrong but let's not consign the film to the flop pile 3 years before it's even out.

No Lucas involvement already makes it better than Crystal Skull.

Is it normal for a movie to get a release date three years in the future? If it is normal, how often do those dates end up being accurate?

As much as I didn't hate Crystal Skull like most people did, I think the franchise should remain finished.

The Crystal Skull wasn't that bad. It was a very good first half and a decent second half. What was terrible was the Shia Le Beouf character, the swinging vines, and the ants. Hell, I didn't even mind the fridge. The crystal skull fit in with the all of the other artifacts that he's searched for, as they all had some sort of supernatural quality about them.

I'm moderately excited as long as they don't repeat the mistakes from the last one... and Harrison Ford's age wasn't one of them.

The big question what if Harrison passes away between now and then..
Hmm.. he almost died a plane crash last year..
his health could go south.. too..
Harrison should just retire.. he's had a great career..
