Exactly, thanks! I know your record storage take-up a large amount of space so I was wondering. I've been in small spaces and found that they can be quite nice in a completely different "near-field" way than a big room. A very personal experience.
Put this little setup together this AM for the fun of it. Sounds good enough it's still in use this afternoon. Running through some Paradigm Atoms. It's really fun when some random items have good synergy. Take notice of the high end cables. For anyone who cares see below. How's that Little Bear work for you? I bought one and never could get it to work. Just noisy as heck. So frustrating, I finally through it in the trash.
Mine has always been trouble free. Virtually noise free. I've done zero modifications. I have always used NOS 12AU7's, no idea if that matters, but yes, for what it is, it has always added a bit of sweetness. I'd wager quality control is minimal, so variation from one to the next is probably great.
Me too. Mine are 1Cs - they sound great with the Rogue Sphinx, and I got them used for next to nothing. I routinely see Vandersteen Model 1s, 2s, and even 3s selling for a fraction of their retail prices.
I think you should upgrade your sense of well-being from 'Not Terribly Embarrassed' to 'Freakin' Proud.'
And besides, with all those recordings, it looks like you have your priorities in the right order! -Bob
They're from Gothic Cabinet Craft: CD Tower, 800 CDs, Double ยป Here's the kicker - I bought mine used on Craigslist. The guy sold me three of them for $120. Not $120 each, but $120 for all three!!
Vandersteen's are wonderful sounding speakers. Used to have the 2ci. Everything sounded good on them.
No one should be "embarrassed" about their system. Each is a reflection of the owner and the financial situation said owner was in at the time. Be yourself and f$%k what other people think
Initially I was struck by the horror of you putting something on top of your speakers and felt I should say something. Upon closer review....what you have up there is just fine. Go 'Noles.
