Good to get your opinion on the London Town tracks.

But how about "Bip Bop"? How does it sound? ;)

finally got through the 4 disc set on a proper sound system. Mull of Kintyre sounds great. Sound is what you expect and on par with the Archive releases

Some people have the setting for PMs turned off. But I doubt Wingsdgm is gonna PM you... you have it turned off too!

I'm making some copies for my car and filling in the unused space on the disks. Was able to add 14 more songs to the 4 disk set

True, but that won't upset me none. It gives me an opportunity to fill some of the glaring omissions

The problem with London Town on vinyl is that it's way too much music crammed onto one LP. While it may have sounded fine in 1978, in today's vinyl=audiophile world, it's not nearly good enough. Putting 51 minutes of music onto an LP is a guarantee of lowered quality. While I'm with ya on BTTE sounding pretty great on vinyl, I have not heard a vinyl pressing of London Town that comes close to great. :shake:

Too bad Columbia never reissued London Town along with the rest of McCartney's Apple/Capitol LP's...given the other Columbia reissues (which IMO sound better than the originals) a Columbia London Town might sound better than the original Capitol.

Totally agreed with this... Or they could have pulled a "Broad Street" and edited the tracks on the vinyl release!

In the U.S. ads for Target and Best Buy were in the Sunday paper.
Neither mentioned any give aways. Target had the two disc set for 15.99.
Best Buy had the two disc version for 14.99.
Neither mentioned the four disc set or the vinyl.

There is always a marketing need for promo CD's-old tracks or new. The thinking that if it introduces or "reintroduces" a track to someone, then the labels feel it is worth it. It looks like the 2 CD version is the promo CD out their that was sent to radio stations and reviewers last week-some inside info..............:)

Yep $31.66 seems still to be the cheapest price for the 4 CD box set-anyone else seen cheaper?

NumberEight Came too late and stayed too long

That's not the only problem with London Town. On vinyl or in any other format.;)

Was at the doctor's office this morning and the waiting area was filled with loads of Pure McCartney posters and promo CDs. In addition, they were handing out leaflets explaining all of the uses of Pure McCartney; or Pure Maca as they called out. Too bad that they didn't realize that Macca is spelled with two "C' letters. But my doctor recommended that I take 2 supplements of "Maca" per day for the next month or so...

Better yet, after "Flowers" lets get "London Town" and "Back to the Egg" as the next 2 archive releases on remastered CD and vinyl! :agree:
