Somewhat off-topic but I think I can beat almost anybody here. :)

Frank Sinatra was offered the role of John McClane in Die Hard!

Frank Sinatra starred in a movie called The Detective in '68 based on a movie by the same name. The sequel to that book was one called Nothing Lasts Forever which Die Hard was based on. Due to the way contracts were made back then, Sinatra was to be offered first dibs on any and all projects derived from The Detective and, indirectly, this meant Die Hard.

So before they could ask Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwartzenegger or Bruce Willis, they had to formally ask Frank Sinatra if, at 73 years of age, he'd like to be cast as an action hero in Die Hard. Only after he officially turned down the part were the producers at liberty of casting anybody else!

Stills has said that it was the songwriting and publishing, but I tend to believe it was the teeth. I wasn't there, so I don't know.
