Before going into music M.I.A. was a visual artist, and among other stuff, did the graphic design for a few Elastica releases. She also did this:
Tool - Undertow Asculpture by Adam Jones (guitarist) He also produces most of their videos (and provides artwork/sculptures for them as well)
The first two IQ albums (on vinyl - and the cassette "Seven Stories Into Eight" that preceeded them) featured cover designs by the band's singer/focal point Peter Nicholls. I'm not sure if their subsequent albums (once Peter returned to the band) featured his artwork. Anybody know?
Gee... did you try looking at the FIRST page of this thread? And while I'm here... Joni Mitchell has been mentioned several times in this thread, but since nobody has yet posted this: cover by Joni Mitchell
I must have seen it because I hit the "Like" button! I guess I had a brain cramp later on though.... Always loved that cover....
Joni Mitchell - Most of her albums Cat Stevens - Mona Bone Jakon, Tea for the Tillerman, Teaser and the Firecat Joseph Arthur - Come to Where I'm From Grace Slick - Manhole Fleetwood Mac - Kiln House, Bare Trees Heather Nova - Blow
I'm a little ticked off because I posted Kiln House (and redmetalmoose posted Bare Trees ) on the first page of this thread and I've already posted two of the Cat Stevens covers as well, but Manhole is such an excellent example that I find I have to forgive you! Here's an unusual version of that well-known album cover: cover by Grace Slick
Chris Isaak does sketches in many of his CD booklets, but for "Mr. Lucky" he also sketched the cover:
No, a photographer was credited with the photo. Jeremy Spencer is credited with cover design, and as he is a talented artist, he is quite capable of having done the lettering, in addition to probably choosing the photo and placement of the lettering. He does look quite stoned on that cover, though, doesn't he? Here's a link to an interview with Spencer that includes a link to a one-page comic strip that JS drew himself: An Interview with Jeremy Spencer of Fleetwood Mac: True blues music seems to have a healing quality for the heart. »
several AMM album covers feature paintings by Keith Rowe (guitar, etc.) as well as other recordings he's been involved with.. https://www.discogs.com/artist/94502-Keith-Rowe
