Do you have one? Do you still play it. If so what games do you play on it?

I have an old tube style TV and I took my old system out of the box. My son ordered the replacement part to get it working and I have 12 working games.

    1. Defender II
    2. Karnov
    3. Marble Madness
    4. Donkey Kong Classics
    5. Chess
    6. Dig Dug 2

    8. Joust
    9. RC Pro Am
    10. Silent Service
    11. Tetrus
    12. Snake Rattle and Roll

I have an Airwolf game but I Haven't found it yet.

    Yes, but a top-loader only.

Good luck finding a working original NES; all the ones I've tried have the dreaded "Pin Connector Glitch".

Yes, I have a NES... it's the same one I had when I was a kid, and it still works! It's currently packed away (in its original box!) in my basement, but once in a while I get the urge to hook it up and take a trip down memory lane. I have a couple dozen games, and most of them are still just as much fun today as they were when I was younger. :)

I am about 90% certain that top loader piece is what my son replaced. All of the games that I have work.

Dig Dug 2 is such a great, under-rated game!

The NES library has some really wonderful games in it.

He means that he has the later top loading model of the NES.

It sounds like your son replaced the pin connector unit inside your NES. The pins have a tendency to get bent out of shape on those over the years which means that the games can't make a proper connection with the system.

You should clean your games with rubbing alcohol as well. This will help to keep your NES working well for a long time. Simply take a q-tip, dip it in rubbing alcohol and scrub the chip that is in the bottom of the game from side to side until it is clean. You'll be amazed by all of the dirt that comes off.

I do. I picked it up at a thrift about 15 years ago, complete in box and have a selection of about 50 games that I picked up for $3 each when they were worthless. It works most of the time.

Unfortunately, the one I bought myself in 1989 was given to my kids, along with all of my games, and is long gone. I wish I still had it.

I hacked my Sony PSP a while ago and installed an emulator and loaded every NES game on it. They take up a surprisingly small amount of space.

Nah...I sold all my vintage game systems a long, long time ago. All that remains is the original Sega Genesis "tower" i.e. original console, original Sega CD and the horrid 32X :)

Wait.. you sold an NES and kept the Sega CD and 32X?

    What is wrong with you?!

    (Just kidding.. kind of). :)

Hahahaha! :) Let's put it this way, I just have yet to offer the Sega tower for sale ( I have not played it in decades.) The NES I sold shortly after the SNES came out and they solved all those "slow down" problems the initial batch of games had.

Ya wanna know what fetched the most money of them all? A Turbografx 16 "Turbo Duo" with a bunch of games.

Yep. The systems of today are a million times more advanced in terms of sound, graphics and connectivity. However, they cannot match the challenge and overall "fun factor" of these classic games.

I may need to take a trip to the retro game store nearby and buy one. I miss mine! Super Mario Bros 3 may be my favorite.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is probably the best Mario game I've ever played! I like it even better than Super Mario World. :) Such a flawless platformer

I agree. Hammer Bros Mario is the best power up of the entire series, too!

Agree to both. I love Super Mario World too but that game can get a bit too frustrating sometimes.

I always hope to walk into the retro shop near me and find an original Japanese Famicom someday. Now THAT would be cool to own!

I love my Sega tower! Need to hook those back up. I still have an NES too, but never had many carts.

Famicom FC very good console boxed Japan Nintendo import system US seller »

There are plenty on eBay, not as fun as finding one in the wild. :)

That's the thing. Don't know if I would just willingly buy one on eBay but if I found one out of the blue in that store I would be tempted to snatch it up...

I like the design of the Famicom and the cartridges look cool. Kinda dumb that the controllers were hardwired into the console. Also the disk system (which has some essential games on it) is more expensive and hard to find. I would probably need to own both, because some of the great NES games were only released on the disk system in Japan.

Yeah, I have thought of getting one too, but the expensive games have kept me from doing so. Plus, the games being in Japanese doesn't help either.

I have a tube TV dedicated to my 8 bit top loader. In fact I just bought the 2015 roster version of Tecmo Super Bowl. It's pretty cool.

The only gaming system I can play. But I can beat Marble Madness in 6 minutes. I can KO Tyson. I'm pretty hard to beat in RBI Baseball and Tecmo Super Bowl.

James and Mike play Doko Doki Panic (which was turned into Super Mario Bros. 2 for the U.S).
