Still makes more sense than buying a used Santana LP from Better Records, marked up to $250 for its "tubey goodness."
I'm a big fan of 45 RPM LPs and I'm convinced of their sonic superiority (all other things equal). But $100 plus shipping? I don't think so.
Now that I remember, some time ago I suggested the MoFi guys to give AC/DC's "If You Want Blood (You've Got It)" the 45 RPM treatment since I think it truly deserves it. But I'm not interested in "three-dimensional sonic and emotional heights".
Ignoring the completely valid complaints about the price, I wouldn't be surprised if the usual burnout classic rock titles that have been done to death on MFSL, Half-Speed Masters, etc get another go-round on this format.
I guess it's worth noting that the $100 price tag isn't that much larger, factoring in inflation, than the $35 that MoFi was charging for the UHQR pressings back in the day. (A comparable price would be closer to $87). So if you're going to price your collector bait at what the market will bear, they're just continuing in the MFSL tradition.
That's what I recalled, too, although looking over Web stuff, it seemed that people were asserting $50. Anyone I fixed my post.
I'm confident that these pressings will sound wonderful. However, I think I would get better value for my limited money elsewhere.
