SH Spotlight Now it can be told: Why did some of the DCC Gold's sound so "unique" compared to other CD's?

Simple. If I felt something sounded too "solid state" I simply used this system for mastering.

It might be old, but nothing can top the sound. Original Universal Audio EQ designed by Bill Putnam and vacuum tube Ampex electronics. The sound of the Golden Age of HI-FI. ampex stuff.jpg ampxtapx.jpg

Yeah, would be nice to know which DCC titles got the treatment in the OP.

Do you have a list, Steve?

    Vintage audiophile porn! :D

Steve, if the right occasion arose, is this a system that you'd likely use again?

I hear some signs of vintage stereo gear on the mono cuts on the Everly Brothers disc - the whole thing lives and breathes

Sorry, I had to go do something.

Only FIVE DCC Golds were done with the complete gear above, many were done with partial use of above gear..

Only five with all of the above and I gave you one plus first DOORS, second DOORS . That leaves....

I bought the AP sacd of the first album, thought it was okay, but lacked presence. Threw the DCC on after and it was frightening. One of my 3 favourite CDs ever.

Probably the others in the catalogue. With that said they sound wonderful and are a great part of my collection.
