Okay, recently I'm able to post an own thread. So, hi everybody to my first one! There were requests of some people around who'd like to see bit more of my alternative album designs by various artists, especially Beatles. It's so much fun making them. I use few of the pictures for self compiled albums. I'll take a look at my hard drives to show you some older ones soon. Till then, here's something new. Don't be shy to show some of YOUR creations! I'd like to see how creative you guys are!
Nice work! Here's one I made for a Roger Waters concert, I wasn't happy with any of the various boot covers. I used the album font, but edited into a different placement. Cut Roger out from the rest of the band, slid a concert stub behind him, and made sure Clapton was in the shot. Pretty happy with this...
Here's a single cover I made for My Chemical Romance. The song was released as a digital-only bonus track. But they put it at the end of a concept album and it TOTALLY throws off the concept... so I split it off into it's own single and needed cover art, so I made this (using a screencap from one of their music videos form the album)... Which, if you look at this next cover, is totally appropriate for the album time period. This is one of their official singles from the album... They look nice sitting next to each other in my library.
One I made years ago, I like the cover without any text on it. Wish they had done that way like on the first two LPs...
Last one for now. This one is less creative, but was made out of necessity. I have the 1992 promo CD single for "Stone Cold Crazy" with the Trent Reznor remix as the b-side. But the promo CD doesn't come with any cover art, so I had to make some. This is the album's photo, re-cropped, with an era-appropriate font. I could see this as the 7" picture sleeve for the single, if it had been released in '74...
Two more black & white ones. First, I needed a cover for the second CD of the Live At Leeds Super Deluxe Box, so I made this one. The second is based on With The Beatles, notice the record label name - a self chosen one called Cadillac Records.
The Early Beatles - Cadillac Records (my own label) release... I'll show you some more stuff in about 10 hours. Must go to bed now. See you later!
Here's my CD art for a Smiths singles compilation I made. The text and logos actually print sharp as a tack, but look somewhat fuzzy in my screen grabs here. Front: Booklet front: Booklet inner: Back cover:
I'm in love with these Aftermath, Out of Our Heads, and Beatles '65 covers. OMG The Beatles one, especially, looks so beautiful with all that orange.
The Style Council singles collection. Again, these print sharp, but I had to screen grab them, as I can't upload to here from Microsoft Publisher. Front: Booklet front: Booklet inner: Back:
I was looking forward to this thread! Here's two alternate Let It Be covers: And an alternate Past Masters cover featuring artwork by Alan Aldridge:
Your work is beautiful!! Hey I hear that the Beatles are going to release more vintage material for copyright protections. You should have the gig for artwork.
Last one for the night. Kate Bush complete singles and other rare released tracks comp. Front: Booklet Front: Booklet inner: Back Cover:
I always thought about if the Beatles used the Please Please Me parody cover for the aborted Get Back album, American buyers would have no idea what it was parodying having never seen the British albums. Here's a solution to that problem, based on the Capitol The Early Beatles artwork:
I hope they get a little attention and packaged someday. And I also hope they want my design for it and give me 60 million dollars.
Here's an alternate cover of A Kind of Magic featuring Queen revisting their iconic Mick Rock photo from the "One Vision" video:
