The Man sounds like a song that plays at the end of an 80s comedy/drama while the credits roll and the two lead characters are frozen after the last funny line of the film.

I bought Pipes of Peace for The Man. That and Sweetest Little Show are the highlights.

Dagnamit! Now I've got it stuck in my head. It's a big time ear worm. Great song, just effortlessly great.

The Man sounds like something off of the Paul Anka-Walk a Fine Line album.

"The Man" would've been another #1 hit for the duo. :righton:

I agree. But it was released in a record full of good songs and it got a little lost between the singles (Ebony & Ivory, Take it Away) and the Lennon song (Here Today).

I do remember it getting a reasonable amount of airplay back in the day.

Wait, wait - so about the cancelled b-side "Blackpool"... why didn't it appear on the Pipes of Peace Deluxe Set?

Even if something was recorded years before (like "I'll Give You a Ring" on Tug of War Deluxe) it's on there.

Waiting to put in... Wild Life? Well, we don't know what version this is, do we? So if there was a 1983-ish remix of the 'rough' versions we've heard... it still should have come out.

Or when would "Blackpool" be included on set? It was recorded a few times, right? None sound very studio-ready, though... didn't he cut the first demo in like 1970? It's on the 1974 piano tape... what version/mix could this have been??

Yep. It sounds like it could have been written by Alan Thicke... except if Thicke had written it, the lyrics would make more sense.

Don't like the Man. Starts okay but gets cloying fast. Sounds like a 5th Dimension outtake.
