I just saw Martha Plimpton on a Law & Order episode the other day. She played in Goonies. It spooked me out and thought she fell off the face of the earth. Looking at IMDb, she is kinda still active, but nothing that is my cup of tea of watching.

    that's a good thing.

i think hollywood realized that making contorted funny faces just isn't that funny.

An Oscar doesn't prevent obscurity - plenty of Oscar winners faded badly - but I agree that Vikander seems unlikely to go poof anytime soon.

I think a lot of Heche's career troubles were self-inflicted, IIRC...

i mentioned him a while back, but it made me think of how much i wish i could type in will ferrell and ben stiller.......when will their 15 minutes be up? neither of them is even the least bit funny. stupid humor is best left to the three stooges.....and that was 60+ years ago.

Funny enough for Jim Carrey movies to earn 4.5 billion dollars worldwide (so far).

There weren't that many parts available for a middle-age Asian actor in Hollywood back in the 80s. He was subsequently murdered. Survived the Killing Fields, but not the streets of LA.

Yeah, he's an extreme example, but not the only one.

There are many who continued to work but didn't have especially "big" careers - Marlee Matlin, for one, though she was going to be a tough person to cast given her unique skill set...

He's been working fairly steadily, but from the looks of recent projects nothing big where he'd get a lot of press coverage:
    William Hurt - IMDb »

Yes, I saw him in a Marvel film but that's about all. He was a pretty big name in the 80s with films like Body Heat, Altered States, Kiss Of The Spider Woman,...
    He deserves bigger roles.

My favorite 70s actress. Not much call for sex symbol actresses in their 60s I'm afraid.

He continued to work after 'The Killing Fields' [1984], but in minor tv appearances and B movies. I suspect Hollywood didn't know what to do with him other to type cast him. My understanding is that he busied himself with refugee charities. He was murdered in 1996 under suspicious circumstances, outside his house in L.A., by members of an L.A. Asian gang. Supposedly it was a robbery turned murder, however there was a strong suspicion that he was assassinated either on orders of Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge dictator of Cambodia, or on their own initiative because of the killers pro Khmer Rouge political sympathies.

The rather ugly personal revelations that have come out recently regarding the extremely dysfunctional relationship he had with ex-girlfriend who recently committed suicide probably aren't going to help him much either.
