Very glad I found a copy of the Fruit Tree vinyl box set a few years back!

I agree that Treasury, the single-disc SACD collection, is excellent - sounds good, nice compilation, and last I checked available dirt-cheap, especially given it's an SACD.

That said, my favorite digital Nick Drake for sound are the high-res tracks that I believe were obtainable via a download link with the recent(ish) vinyl remasters. To my ears those digital files sound more open than the SACD.

    Two vinyl versions.
Even a cassette version also I believe.

Where did you get that from?

Despite myself, I admit too really enjoying the 320kbp mp3s of Nick's albums being played on his family's '60s gramaphone (one of the dig download collections re the recent boxes).

Obviously not sonic bliss, but still compelling listening.

There should be a songbook with his Tunings /chords /lyrics.
    I'd buy it.

I have the Japanese SHM (from 2000) releases of Five Leaves Left and Pink Moon and they sound fantastic.

I've tried to track down any and all Nick Drake since I first heard him in the early seventies. Another nice comp is Heaven In A Wild Flower. It's a nice overview of his entire output.

The Treasury comp misses "Things Behind The Sun." I've had the disc for a while, but never warmed up to it since that track wasn't included.

Another CD compilation box released a few years ago was ‘Tuck Box’ which is probably still available (new).

I have Treasury on SACD. That's why I want full albums of those mixes. I had read they prepped all of the albums for SACD around that time. I'm assuming they did 5.1 mixes when they did that.

Good comp but my universal player won't play my copy of it without sticking/skipping. Fortunately the red book layer sounds rather good so recommended as a CD as well. Otherwise just get the vinyl reissues of the 3 original albums which are mastered very well.

The SACD layer is incredible - just what the timeless music deserves.

Compilations have opened the door for so many Nick Drake fans over the years.
The 1st, You Can All Join In, from 1969 was around £0.70 on release.
(If you'd bought every album on it you'd have a very nice retirement fund)
But it was the sudden decision to use the track Pink Moon on a Volkswagen TV ad that got many US fans into his music.

Have his music on various formats and they're all very good.
Its a testament to the recording skills of John Wood and the sound that came out of the studio, Sound Techniques (a former dairy) that make the music so wonderful whatever format you choose to listen to it on.
That & the genius of Nick & his orchestrator Robert Kirby.

Have met Cally who's in charge of the ND estate & Nick's sister Gabrielle. They are fanatical about Nick's legacy and are uber cautious about every release/use of his music. Which would explain why his musical legacy has been kept so protected, pure & unmolested.
And an honourable mention to Joe Boyd who is of the same mind.
Wish more artists legacy were treated in the same way.
