Miriam Linna, his wife and co owner with him of the great Norton Records label/mail order company has just announced this terrible news. Way too young.

This news is really sad. I knew that he was in bad health but hoped that everything would be okay.

Oh no , terrible loss for Rock n Roll fans , He was like Lux Interior 's little Brother to me .( and Miriam is Ivy 's little sister )
Oddly enough , I was listening to a Norton record ( Bobby Fuller ) when I opened the SH forum and read this .
RIP Billy and thanks for all the music

I didn't know him but he should be revered for those fabulous Pretty Things reissues.

    This is very sad news.

In the early 1980s, my Surf Band played on many gigs with Billys band "The A Bones".
RIP Billy, you were a true Rock and Roll guy.

RIP to a true legend. What a fight he up up the last year and a half or so. His passion for rock and roll could not be matched, except by his loving wife Miriam. I am devastated. I know this was a fave of his so I send this out to both of them. Thanks for all the music Norton rescued from obscurity:

And of course before Norton Records there was the seminal release on the Kramden label, the Hipsville 29 B.C. compilation!

RIP. His label has released and reissued so much great music that would otherwise remain forgotten.

My first Norton purchase was this 45. The sides were mislabeled, I knew this was the record company for me!
