The Good, The Bad And The Ugly is my all-time favorite Western.

As for the other two, I can't decide between many others.

    Some other notables I enjoy:

    The Outlaw Josey Wales
    Django Unchained
    Dances With Wolves
    Jeremiah Johnson
    Blazing Saddles
    A Fistful Of Dollars
    For A Few Dollars More
    Hang 'Em High
    High Plains Drifter
    Pale Rider
    True Grit (2010)
    The Shootist
    Tombstone

(Note: Never did like Unforgiven and don't understand how it got so much praise and awards.)

Nice to see True Grit. Cohen's version is definitely the better one

Anything with John Wayne and/or James Stewart. Just great ways to drop out of life for a couple of hours and sit back and relax.

If you include TV miniseries, gotta say 'Lonesome Dove.'

An honorable mention to 'High Noon'. And one of the more interesting westerns was 'The Long Riders' wherein the James brothers, the Younger brothers, the Ford brothers and the Miller brothers were all portrayed by actual brothers: the Keach brothers, Carradine brothers, the Guest brothers and the Quaid brothers respectively.

    Only three...tough call.
Firecreek - James Stewart & Henry Fonda

Tombstone - Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday steals every scene.

The Wild Westerners - classic B grade western starring Guy Mitchell & Duanne Eddy!

Special mention to Silverado - every western you ever saw rolled into one!

    The Outlaw Josey Wales

    The rest of my favs:

    Ride The High Country
    The Professionals
    The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid
    Little Big Man
    The Wild Bunch
Red River (even though I hate John Wayne)
    True Grit (ditto both versions)

    The Wild Bunch
    The Magnificent Seven
    3:10 To Yuma (both versions)
McCabe and Mrs. Miller (the anti-western)
    Jeremiah Johnson
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
    The Left Handed Gun
    Man of the West
    High Plains Drifter
    Django Unchained
    Missouri Breaks
Tombstone (just for the performances alone this would be in my top list)
    The Seaechers
    My Name is Nobody
    Open Range
    One Eyed Jacks
    A Fistful of Dollars
    The Naked Spur
    Winchester 73
    The Ox Bow Incident
    The Far Country
    The Man From Laramie
    Lonely Are The Brave
    The Shootist
    The Quick and The Dead
    Heaven's Gate
    The Hateful Eight
    The Unforgiven

Anthony Mann was a grossly underrated director at the time. He gave Stewart some of the best roles of his career this side of Hitchcock.

So is Star Wars episode III. Look at Harrison Ford's attire. All you have to do is replace the spaceships with horsies!

    Typically I'd say:
    • McCabe & Mrs. Miller
    • The Searchers
    • Dead Man
Having said that, I just watched The Ballad of Cable Hogue not long ago. What a film.
