I went with ''Desolation Row'', but on another day i might go with ''Ballad Of A Thin Man'' or ''Like A Rolling Stone''.
This is one of those anti-polls... an "X" number of votes will be made for the 2nd or 3rd choices, only because some are thinking, let's not vote for the obvious... How do I know this? Because I almost voted for Desolation Row instead of Like A Rolling Stone, for that very same reasoning!
Classic album that I love every bit of!!! But if I can only pick one how can I not pick Like A Rolling Stone?? So I picked it.
So tough to chose. A perfect record. My favourite Dylan album and possibly my favourite ever by anyone. It doesn't get better than this. I went with It Takes A Lot To Laugh because I really like his vocal on it, but I could have chosen anything from this album. Incredibly cool album cover too. A flawless album. There's very few of those.
Ooo, tough one. I went with Desolation Row because of how the song seems to take off and gain momentum with the harmonica break. It always gives me goosebumps.
I went for "Tom Thumb's Blues" - somewhat overshadowed by the other tracks on this sensation album. Another song with a story, nice understated backing that lets the journey reveal. On an album like this, every track deserves a vote. Dave, in a poll for an album like this we really need to be able to select at least seven favourite tracks, not one! Nice to see "Queen Jane" get a vote, I don't think it's the standout but I've always enjoyed it and felt it's overshadowed by the brilliance of the other tracks. And here's the iconic cover:
Please somebody vote for Tombstone Blues, From A Buick 6 and Highway 61 Revisited! They're all amazing! Great rockers.
I figured Like a Rolling Stone would win in a landslide, so it's been great to see so many other votes for my fave -- It Takes a Lot to Laugh, etc.
Tough call, but I'm going with 'Rolling Stone', simply because of the way Bob's anger comes busting out of the speakers on Mister Hoffman's DCC mastering. None of the previous versions I had heard had conveyed nearly that sense of emotion.
Desolation Row in a landslide for me. I remember when I first "got" Dylan in 1985 and I picked up Freewheelin', Changing, Bringing It and Highway 61 on the same day. I looked at the times of the tracks as I was listening and Desolation Row kind of made me pause. It took me a day or two to get ready for it. When I finally tackled it, not knowing quite to expect, I think I listened to it five times in a row in stunned silence. To this day, that track makes me feel 21 years old again.
