I see movies are moving away from orange and teal to just orange or teal. :D

Could be good. Hoping for the best.

All I can say is I like Ryan Gosling as an actor. Hopeful, though Ridley has disappointed on both Alien's rebirth as well as his version of the Ten Commandments (or make that an even dozen!).

However, Ridley didn't actually direct this.

Apparently, Dennis Villenueve is meeting with Legendary about a new big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune... be excited, be very excited.

  8. Preview looks promising in that it tries to keep the feel of the original. Hopeful.

Also hoping it doesn't turn into a CGI Fest and try to sell Mattel Toys.....

Dune should be done as a high-end TV series, a la Game of Thrones. Science fiction with that kind of scale is doable now on a TV budget (especially one the size of GoT or Westworld's).

If I'm confused -- please help. I thought Ridley directed/produced Prometheus, Alien's prequel??

He didn't direct the new Blade Runner movie.

I strongly agree. Books that feature an extremely large story are difficult to do in one movie on the big screen without a large amount of cutting (see most comic-book-based movies) or altering the story to something far different from the book (see I, Robot).

Am very excited to see this and hope they get it right. I'd also love to see a new big screen version of Dune. I recently watched the BluRay of it after not seeing it since the original release in the theaters and thought this is a movie that should be done properly.

I was staring into the red sand-filled air, straining to make out more details of where this building was, trying to find clues for why it had been abandoned so quickly - left so intact.

That attests to how effective this teaser was in piquing my interest.

The new music felt right. The new director felt right too.

And I liked how Gosling's opening line to Deckard worked as both subtle humor meant to put Deckard at ease - by conveying to Deckard that he knows full well that Deckard's past was complex (not a "more simple" time at all, that's the joke) - and also a literal statement that things are now (presumably) worse than ever.

I could have done without the giant head, since Prometheus had one of those.

And a shout out to the new composer! The new pings felt very much at home in the universe that Scott and Vangelis created earlier. I want he soundtrack now, too!

I adore Denis Villeneuve. Incendies is probably the best Canadian film of the past 15 years

Ryan Gosling starring? He's perfect to create the wooden, stilted feel of the original film. Maybe he'll have the chance to reprise his brain-damaged stare from "Drive."

Hope he can reprise his performance in Drive - I quite liked that movie and his performance.

A lot of people make fun of that performance on movie forums. Others thought his character was supposed to be autistic. Except for an unusual role for Albert Brooks, I had to put Drive among some some the worst films I've ever seen. And I didn't even bother to finish the director's next film. Talk about style over substance. It was like Michael Mann on Quaaludes.

I'd liked it enough to include it in my video archive, and not too many movies make it there. I found it entertaining, tense and quite engaging, including Carey Mulligan's performance too.

Yep, and the replicants could replicate and misbehave in the meantime.
