Burt Ward (of TV's Batman and Robin) recorded several songs in the mid-sixties with Frank Zappa arranging and conducting and Mothers of Invention Jimmy Carl Black and Roy Estrada among the backing musicians.

 

Roy Bittan played piano on Bob Seger's "Even Now," "Roll Me Away" and "The Fire Inside."

(Fyi, I'm a huge fan of "The Professor," as Springsteen has tagged him.)

 

He also played most of the piano on Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album.

That's jazz legend Sonny Rollins playing the sax solo on the Stones' "Waiting On A Friend".

 

Wishbone Ash members Andy Powell and Ted Turner guested respectively on Renaissance's Ashes are Burning, and John Lennon's Crippled Inside.

 

Billie Jean King....the tennis player.....sings backup vocal on the song Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John.

 

Several members of the Detroit Lions sang backup on Marvin Gaye songs, including "Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology)" and "What's Goin' On".

 

That's Donovan duetting with Alice Cooper on "Billion Dollar Babies".

 

I just realized this one recently after listening to the Sound Opinions podcast on a dissection of this record.

 

Correct: Lem Barney and Mel Farr can be heard joking with Marvin in the song's open.

 

Bahahahahahaha!!! Ahhh... that's funny. Somehow I'm not surprised.

For some reason now I'm thinking about what would happen if Zappa was in the first Batman movie... maybe he was the one conducting the marching band that kept getting in the way!
