I like to say in a whiny voice "Uncle Owen. This Artoo unit has a bad motivator. A BAD MOTIVATOR!" I repeat the last three words for effect.
Adywan's ESB Revisited is slated to be completed by the end of the month - AT LONG LAST!! This is a model he created of the Rebel Hangar on Hoth to actually bring things to scale. Dude is absolutely dedicated, which is why he also built a Wampa Suit from scratch to replace the Wampa shots from the SE not to mention building a Dagobah set to replace the matte painting, along with Luke's crashed X-Wing to match continuity. Looking forward to it.
More random stuff that never made sense: 1) Wouldn't Han Solo have gotten a major concussion and/or died after he was frozen in carbonite and that rat-looking alien just knocks him over so he slams into the ground? 2) Doesn't the Millenium Falcon have way too little cargo space on board to be called a freighter? 3) Why is Vader's helmet all smudged up after his light saber fight with Luke in ROTJ? 4) Why did the rebel pilots spend so much time flying down that trench on the Death Star instead of just entering it shortly before they needed to to get a lock? and of course: 5 ) What's the point of the armor on Stormtroopers if they stop nothing but a knife? 6) How are a "legion" of the Emperor's "best troops" defeated by Ewok's wielding rocks and twigs? and so on, and so on...
Adywan's Empire Strikes Back Revisited is out NOW! Just finished watching and my, is it stunning! So pristine, the quality and the Battle of Hoth looks more gripping than ever. He has links on his Star Wars Revisited Facebook page, and I'm sure there must be torrents available by now. And yes, Adywan does not seek to profit from this as it's meant to cost nothing, but he does expect that you should own a copy of the movie(s) prior to downloading a copy of Revisited. Once a Bluray version is released, I shall be burning immediately!
Eh, the changes are basically "George Lucas revisionism" all over again. I admire Adywan's passion and dedication, but I lean towards "restoration" vs. "let's fix every single thing wrong with continuity, props, colors, etc.".
To each their own, dude. I like restoration as much as the next person and in that regard, the lines "Bring my shuttle," "You're lucky you don't taste good" and Jason Wingreen Boba Fett each make a welcome return. At the end of the day, much like a Steven Wilson remix of a classic album, Revisited is at the end of the day, an alternate presentation.
Agreed. I love what he did with Star Wars only because GL bastardized it so much himself. His version is my goto disc. I gave the streamed version of ESB:Revisited a quick once through. Other than the scenes you mentioned and the color timing, there doesn't seem to be as many major changes as SW: Revisited. Looks excellent though.
It may not look like much but I was blown away over the Asteroid Field chase with those colliding asteroids creating debris and how that AT-ST got squished by that falling AT-AT along with Luke looking on in the back lol. Also loved how hatches opened up deploying Snow Troopers on the AT-ATs as well. Looking forward to looking at the full list of adjustments as there are clearly a lot of subtle changes made.
