Heard Signed, Sealed, Delivered on the radio this morning. First time I really noticed the sitar. I am guessing it is either a Danelectro Jerry Jones sitar or the Danelectro Baby sitar. Is this the first use of sitar/electric sitar on a Motown song?

The electric sitar was heard on Motown songs before Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours.

One that comes to mind is No Matter What Sign You Are by Diana Ross And The Supremes, released as a 45 in May 1969 and heard in poor audio quality in the video below:

Eddie “Chank” Willis played electric sitar on both No Matter What Sign You Are and Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours.

The last Funk Brother show I saw in 2005, Eddie Willis played the sitar riff on a telecaster for Signed Sealed Delivered during the sound check.

They didn't play that song that night

    Rip Eddie!
