Here's an off the wall example I came across by chance online: LSD: A Documentary Report (Capitol STAO-2574/TAO-2574) This album was released by Capitol Records in August to report on the burgeoning acid scene happening in Los Angeles at the time. It was produced by Capitol Records president Alan Livingstone and photo-journalist Lawrence Schiller with the help of Dr. Sidney Cohen. The documentary was narrated by an uncredited Dick Clark and features commentary from various LSD luminaries such as Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg and Laura Huxley. The psychedelic background music was performed by an LA band called Fire & Ice. The cover photo was taken by Lawrence Schiller at the Cinema Theater "Hollywood" Acid Test on February 25, 1966. The "psychedelic" effect was created by using a slow shutter speed to blur the action giving it a feeling of speed and movement. Here is the original uncropped photograph showing dancers at the Hollywood Acid Test: Here is the poster for the Hollywood Acid Test: And here is the original uncropped photograph with the album cover superimposed:
I have to see if I can find them, but I was given several sheets of alternate photos and proofs for Herbie Hancock's album The New Standard from 1995.
