In 1987 Heineken and EMI offered a cassette called "Only The Beatles..." that you could mail away for.

Only The Beatles... - Wikipedia ...

    Heineken Beer

Unfortunately they didn't get the permission of Apple Records (I.E: The surviving three Beatles and Yoko) to do this promotion so the offer was pulled after only 17 days once Apple got wind of it.

That is one hideous looking cover!

Apparently it has previously unreleased stereo mixes of This Boy and Yes It Is (I'm not sure if that's true or even if the stereo mixes are unique to this cassette or not- does anyone know for sure?).

    Track listing
    1. "Love Me Do"
    2. "Twist and Shout"
    3. "She Loves You"
    4. "This Boy"
    5. "Eight Days a Week"
    6. "All My Loving"
    7. "Ticket to Ride"
    8. "Yes It Is"
    9. "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"
    10. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
    11. "And I Love Her"
    12. "Strawberry Fields Forever"
Much to my amusement, someone bothered to pirate it onto CD (!).

CD Album: The Beatles - Only The Beatles...

Does anyone here have this cassette? Just curious. :)

Oh yeah, if you're both a Beatles fan and a beer can collector then I bet that's a must-have. :)

The stereo mixes of This Boy and Yes It Is debuted on the cassette but were subsequently officially released on vinyl & cd. I think I got that right anyway.:)

Oh, I thought they were really scarce considering the circumstances. Was a cache of them found in a warehouse somewhere at some point?

Wow, that's pretty interesting how mixes can get out like that!

Probably depended on who was working in the EMI tape library that day.

How much though for an unopened beer can?

Now admit it though. How many cans do you have in your closet?

None, because I was six when this promotion was happening... and besides I was more of a Miller Lite kid at the time anyway. :)

Thanks for setting that straight BC. I totally missed that the cassette was an 80s product. I bought the set of Canadian and Australian singles back in the 70s around the time of their release. Seems like the first time I heard Yes It Is in true stereo was on a boot(probably sourced from the Holland reissues.)

I have two of the cassettes & both stick. Am I just unlucky or has anyone else got this problem?

Hmm..this is one of the more interesting Beatle things I've seen in a while...I never heard of it before. That track listing you posted-especially from halfway on down, is inconsistently sick. And yea...horrendous 'artwork".

I heard about that cassette a while ago. Looks interesting but think I don't need this.
Sandwiching 'And I Love Her' between two Sgt. Pepper era tracks is just weird...

I foresee “The Hoffman Effect” will cause the demand, and value of the cassette tapes and beer cans to rise...

I have a couple copies of the cassette which I paid between $10-$20 each for. I remember them going for quite a bit more years ago.

I also have an empty Heineken beer can that a friend gave me who was a beer can collector at the time. I haven't played either of my cassettes in several years, but they both played when I originally got them.
