Starts at about 1:05. Simple but oh so effective.

Richard Thompson's Calvary Cross. The whole thing is a solo but really cooks around the 7.30 mark.

Silly song but Krieger never played with so much skill for a solo when Morrison was around.

Step aside Annie, it's time for Mr. Stewart to shine.

  7. From Sun Ra's brief 'disco' phase, circa 1978. Guitarist is only billed as "Disco Kid" (iirc), and I'm not sure if he's ever been ID'ed. Guitar solo comes in shortly after 2:40, but the whole track is well worth a spin from the beginning. Enjoy!!

Wilko's solos at 1:10 and 1:55 are very short. But what makes them amazing is the fact that you have to ask, "How the heck did he make those sounds while working his hands that way?"

One of my favorites: Eddie 'Smeero' Hazel. The first 2:45 are painless, but that's when the solo starts (the last minute or so is when it really cooks.)

Maybe not great in a technical sense, but it is on that other level. Jimmy is really pouring it out here. Approx 3:20 - 4:45:

At the end of the song. One of my favorite solos ever recorded. I like how the band builds up with it. Makes the solo that much more powerful by the end.

You know those guitars that are like, double guitars?

    Eddie Hazel AND Mike Hampton.

LOL that this is becoming the all Maggot Brain thread.

I for one could go on in that vein, but I will stop.
