I don't even know where to begin with how horrifying that is if true.

Next you'll tell me what I read on the Interwebs isn't true. I just won't have it.

Did you read the link to the article?

Actually, most big one-hour American network TV dramas are typically anywhere from $3 million to $6 million per episode; something like Game of Thrones, Westworld, or House of Cards is at least $10 million per episode.

Man, a huge cast (I think there were 20 speaking parts), tons of extras, period sets, period costumes, top-notch crew, shot on film, plus four or five costly songs per episode... that's not a cheap show to do by anybody. It didn't help that there were 14 producers on the show, including Scorsese & Mick Jagger.

Haven't read yet. Will read soon. My comment was basically an instant reaction to so much money spent on something so lame.

This wouldn't be the first time. The president of HBO (who had been there for more than 20 years) lost his job over Vinyl and the messy disaster of the abandoned David Fincher project that wasted millions on development:

Yeah that's true. They weren't cutting back on production values that's for sure.

I think Scorsese and showrunner Terrance Winter (who was part of Rome, The Sopranos, and several other major HBO series) were given a lot of creative freedom, and I think bad choices were made:

I'm really hoping I can go back to the old one, if certain changes are made by, say, June.
