[IMG] [IMG] New amp from a friends aunt, like new and sounds incredible. Complete with manual, service center list and fold out schematic. They new how to do it back in the day. When the average middle class family spent good money on audio entertainment, in today's money it cost $1800 dollars.

    Strongly :agree:

Wooden side panels and detailed owner's manual on top of superb build quality. You cannot buy much audio today with $1800 ...

One of the two I have was purchased by me in 1971 when I was in the Army stationed in Germany. I hadn't listened to it in over 20 years and then a few years ago I pulled it off the shelf, Deoxitized all the knobs and switches and tried it out. Now it's my main amp for daily listening. :)

Looks like the lack of a remote for the receiver does not bother you ...

All I can think is retube cost...

But to the point of the thread, I'd like to find a Mac C22 at a good price.

I hear you. The price of admission for the tube-rolling fun will be exorbitant as well ...

If I start to fire up my vintage Tandberg TR-2075MKII receiver, I will need to use bookshelves as the bipolar towers are probably too much for receiver with 75 watts/ch to handle ...

Which version of the Musical Concepts is it? I've got a DH220 and have been tempted. Stock, I'd describe the 220 as having "bleached textures". I suppose I can't complain too much since the amp was free, I've been considering it as a place-keeper until something better comes along.

So the Pioneer M-25 does not really have a chassis per se. It looks somewhat like a tube amp without the tubes ...

There's a local guy, fairly young, who runs a small guitar and amp repair/sales shop in my small town. He sells almost exclusively vintage stuff and builds his own tube amps. Here's a listing he has up for one of those beasts. Vintage Pioneer M22 Class A Dual Mono Amplifier

For some reason he doesn't list anything on ebay.

    Did you buy them new?

It is kind of hard to figure out the reasonable prices for some 40 year old amps ...
