First post on this site! I was surprised to see The Who Sell Out in the lead. It is a great album, what with the nostalgic radio sequencing and of course the best Who song ever imho, I Can See For Miles.

As an overall collection of songs, I had to go with Tommy.

Tommy is very near and ear to my aging heart for personal reasons as well as musical. It's the first album I ever heard by The Who (at age 11) and I still recall it being played on one of the local FM stations repeatedly when it had just come out. Something about it resonated with me instantly and I begged one of my aunts to get it for me for my upcoming birthday in 1969 Unfortunately, I don't still have that original copy but it's been faithfully replaced by the Classic Records 200g LP version as well as the deluxe 2-CD set and the Lp sized box set. The "Listening To You" sequence is my all time favorite coda-repetition in all of Rock. It's my 9th favorite album of all time (yes, I have a definitive top 10...but it doesn't go any further).

I went with Tommy (big surprise), with Who's Next as a close second.

Who's Next. Everything else just doesn't work for me. It's either mid to late 60s where they are having a TERRIBLE time putting an album statement together (minus Tommy) or post Who's Next where Pete is trying WAY too hard to be sophisticated sounding.

That's right - crucify me: I cannot STAND Quadrophenia. The chords and some of the chord progressions on some of those songs annoy the hell out of me.

If I could have it my way, they'd forever be the band they were between 68 and 71.

The Who Sell Out. They were just coming into their peak powers as musicians and composers, but there's an infectious sense of fun that was missing from some later releases. I'm a little burnt out on Who's Next, but I still enjoy revisiting my expanded Lifehouse playlist.

Tommy, but Sell Out and Who's Next are very close behind. Tommy was my first Who album so nostalgia gives it that slight edge.

By the way Kids Are Alright is also amazing. Don't know why its not in the poll.
    Oh - and Leeds!

Quadrophenia is first, Tommy is second and Who's Next is third for me.

    Who's Next

Who Are You was the first Who album I ever had, so it hold's a special place for me, but Who's Next is the best overall IMO.
