Truth be told I would go with Live at Leeds if that was an option, but I went with Quadrophenia.
Truth be told, I like every album up through By Numbers.

The Who Sell Out from this list, but Live at Leeds otherwise. Going in the other direction, Endless Wire is definitely my least favorite. Only Who album I've bought then immediately purged from my collection.

Strange, I know. This is the first album in a long line - for me - where Pete is reading his own press and buying into it. Don't get me wrong - some of those songs are really great, but most of them...eh...not for me.

I love the balance of playfulness and power from '66 through '68. I can't make a case for A Quick One being their best but it's delighted me most over the last fifty plus years.

    Interesting...
"Who Are You" has ZERO votes.

Is this a decoy post by the OP?

I also think Sell Out doesn't suffer from over-exposure like some of their later albums, so it sounds a little fresher. It's interesting to see how much Sell Out's critical stock has improved over the years.

I admit I used to be a pretty huge fan of Who's Next but these days yeah the earlier stuff does sound fresher. A lot of that earlier stuff like from Sing My Generation is literally busting through the speakers and I love it!

Like several others, Live at Leeds it's my goto album for a Who fix, other than that I find myself enjoying Face Dances quite a bit lately so I voted for that. I need to revisit Sell Out, not listened to that in ages.

For years I would have said Quadrophenia.
But more recently I'm going back to Tommy.
    I vote Tommy.

Easy one: Who's Next. The rest are hit and miss to varying degrees.

Who's Next but I really like Tommy too. I enjoy what I've heard off Quadrophenia but have actually never listened to the whole thing, know it's one of those albums I need to experience one of these days

Very low votes on the first two albums here yet. They're great, too, actually.

  25. For ages my favorite was Magic Bus! ha ha ha

    favorite Who album?
That's easy, Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy.

Then Who's Next. Behind Blue Eyes is probably my favorite Who song and the whole album's great though. I also love The Real Me and Love Reign O'er Me from Quadrophenia but songs like So Sad About Us and Much Too Much are no slouches...:help:
