Okay, bring out the hammer and nails.

Seriously, though, as much as I love Quadrophenia, I know just what you mean about their 68-71 glory...

Hmmm. I almost agree with you entirely.

Tommy for me, it was one of my first albums in the mid 70's, and I still love it. Runners up would be Live at Leads and Who's Next. Never really got into Quadrophenia, but a lot of the songs are great

I am surprised Tommy has only received 19 votes so far.

Quadrophenia by a nose (an average one, not Pete's) over Who's Next.

The first two are my favorites. I voted for A Quick One. I like most of their stuff up through Quad. D0n't really like Tommy at all.

I'm not surprised. There's some great stuff but also a lot of questionable stuff on that album.

Hard to pick between Tommy, Quad & Leeds for 2nd place among my Who albums.

Of the albums listed, I voted Quadrophenia. For songwriting, performance, intricate beauty, power, innovation, and one of the most compelling album-ending tracks of rock history-Love, Reign O'er Me.

My favorite WHO album will forever be Live at Leeds - expanded without the entire Tommy performance.

My vote for one defining track goes to Naked Eye, the remixed studio version on the 1996 Odds and Sods.

I agree with some contributors who state their admiration for Odds.. I have loved it for 40+ years.

My Wife is great live and I prefer it to Baba live.

However, it should not have been on Who's Next. Not when you have Pure and Easy, Relay, Join Together or Let's See Action to replace it.

Out of The Who studio albums, this is how I'd rank my top three:)

By Numbers. Underrated then, underrated now. Who's Next and Sell Out very close behind. To me those are the three truly great ones.

Tommy and Quadrophenia have lots of good stuff but too much filler, too long-winded. Sometimes Pete could have used an editor.

Who Are You is better than it had any right to be, but ultimately down a peg from the above.

I think Who's Next is as close to being a perfect album as it gets. I put it in my personal triad of absolute rock'nroll albums (Exile and Sgt.Pepper being the other ones).

However, absurdly enough, I went for Quadrophenia. It's not everyone's favorite, but it is so damn impressive as an art statement to me, I just love it (yes, with all its flaws) every inch of the way. Pete and The Who never reached those heights again, and that's saying something.

Who Are You and Who's Next are close seconds, and Tommy is, well, Tommy. But really my favorite is The Who By Numbers as I like each of those songs. I particularly love "Slip Kid"-such an edge to the sonics, in a good way!

Who's Next, but Quadrophenia has recently become my #2, thanks to the new 5.1 mix. Tommy is a close #3.

Quadrophonia. Although I do wonder if my appreciation for Who's Next would be different if my initial exposure wasn't the 1995 expanded CD.

I never fell in love with some of the bonus tracks (Water & Naked Eye), which forever tainted my view of the album.

Sometimes logging in here is like stepping into some strange alternate universe

For me, QUADROPHENIA by several orders of magnitude.
    Then BY NUMBERS.
    Then SELL OUT.
Then WHO'S NEXT, without skipping "My Wife" because I am not insane

Who's Next for this guy. It was released in 1971, the greatest year for rock n roll.
