Has this thread been done already??? I've said that I have enough MM cartridges before; but, I stumbled on this a little while back and figured... why not? There is a JICO SAS available for it, I believe. Or, there is always retipping. Shure M95ED Hi-Track
In my office the main cart is this Audio Technica AT440MLa. It sounds awesome and the needle looks great under a microscope. This turntable has a removable headshell and I can very easily swap out for a universal mount Stanton L 737-E- with an old D47S stereohedron stylus with many hours on it. Looks great under a microscope and sounds fantastic but I don't trust it since it's old and has years of occasional play. (It's probably fine) I purchased this circa 1984 for my first turntable.
Newly installed this morning. Loving it so far. Was previously using a At440mlb. The Nagaoka is definitely warmer and more forgiving. Very pleased.
This is a bucket list cartridge for me. There are several on that list; but, this one is definitely on there.
It's an Ortofon, but not sure which one. I bought this table new in 1979 or 80 and had it tuned up around 2007 by the Turntable Doctor in Columbia, SC. He replaced the original with this one. Sad to say, he is no longer with us. He was a vintage turntable guru.
One of the benefits of my brother going moving coil a while back was that this TK9e fell off of his turntable and onto mine.
Glad, I took a gamble on it. As I've got a Lounge phono stage; and not really wanting to add another head amp or SUT for MC, I was looking at an Origin Live, Soundsmith made Aladdin. But saw this come up pre-owned little use at a great price. It really matches well with the Audiomods arm and Lounge.
SNAP! I loved the AT440MLB but it's been discontinued & the replacement is $100 more expensive and wanted something reliable and authentic. The Nagoaka punches well above it's price tag, a superb cartridge and cheaper than the AT440 too.
