Yes it would be terrible if The Beatles popularity extended to new generations of fans.

Excuse me while I go and shake my fist at a nearby cloud.

What I mean is that there's something to be said for the artistic integrity of the original songs. They've survived and been super popular for 50 years in their current state.

Modernizing art to make it acceptable to the current generation is a slippery slope

Does it REALLY change the music, or just how it sounds a little?

Surely not comparable? It'd only be comparable if he was completely re-recording parts or adding EDM over the top or something.

They need to remix Abbey Road in to glorious MONO. :edthumbs:

  9. The White Album is the one I have been waiting for to be released as a box set. It will be mine.

I'm fine with it. They did the mono and stereo releases already. I don't think the White Album needs a remix as much as say Rubber Soul, Help, or even Revolver. But I thought the Yellow Sub remixes, the Anthology remixes were good and would welcome stereo mixes that don't need to preserve wide stereo or mixing mistakes. To me this isn't colorizing Kane. This is like a 5.1 mix of Vertigo or Godfather on a bluray plus the original mono on the same disc. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but both options are out there for whatever you prefer

I think Giles is planning to hire a few rappers to add vocals and shake up these boring recordings ....

As long as they don't colourize the White Album... ;)

It's not like the originals are being eliminated. They're still there if people want to listen to them.

I'm a movie fan. To me a version of Citizen Kane in color is not a big deal. If they destroyed the black and white version that would be a big deal.

If there goal is to center the lead vocals on all the songs, then I am for it. If they add reverb or compression, I am vehemently against it. I like what they did on Yellow Submarine Songtrack.

I agree! I just don't think that that's comparable to what Giles is doing. He's changing the mix, not changing the music, and the original mix will still be available.

Hey, as long as they aren't suggesting overdubs, I'm OK with it. I'd like to hears 5.1 mixes of most of the Beatles albums. The pre-Rubber Soul albums probably don't need it though.

Beatle records weren't audiophile good. So I am all for them sounding better.

Heard a couple of tracks on Simon Mayo on Radio 2 last night. It sounded like Giles had been at the Protools to me.
But I didn't like the last stereo releases either, or Let It Be Naked, they all sound similar.

Remix away, Giles! It's not like they're going to delete the original stereo mix of an album from the catalog. I'd like to hear The Beatles (particularly their later work) in as high quality as possible.
