If you hear the isolated vocal of A Day in the Life, it is clearly Paul doing the ahhhs and clearly behind him is John doing the ghostly howling as Ron says.
    Without a doubt!

There could be video of Paul singing it in the studio in 1967, and some people would still insist it was John.

I feel like this whole pepper thing has come and gone. I haven't even gotten it yet and I feel like I'm over it.

    Anyway, lets agree to disagree.

'The Day In the Life' is The Beatles song that brings John and Paul, George and Ringo's genius together like no other Beatles track.

Can't wait to hear the 2017 version on June the 1st.... yes I'm holding out.

If it's so clearly John according to some and not Paul then why do a lot of people think it's Paul? I think the John people need to explain how people are hearing Paul rather than the opposite.

I just assumed it was John for years before I actually listened critically to the voice and heard the isolation. It's Paul. There isn't an ounce of John's timbre in the voice.

I must add that I vastly prefer the US Rubber Soul/Yesterday&Today/Revolver/Sgt.Pepper'sLonelyHeartsClubBand quadrilogy to their Help! thru Sgt. Pepper UK counterparts.

That's funny because I'm finding the most, and the most extreme, messianic surety on the Paul side. I see lots of "definitely"s and "whatsoever"s and "without question"s and "exactly"s and most egregiously, lots of trying to pass off a faulty "objective" argument as proof.

I've got no dog in this hunt. I'm not sure who it is singing. But I do believe it's the Paul people who would still be insisting after the video proof :)

Folks, the bickering on who "ahhd" and who didn't is getting ridiculous.

Let's just say it was Bernard Purdie and move on. shall we?

But, if we are going to keep debating it, no personal attacks or bickering, OK?

    Please?

    Love to all.

If it's Paul then he really did a very great job of imitating John.

Here... I made this to maybe help? I've always thought it was John. To be fair, the beginning Ahh-ah-aa does sound kinda like Paul. The ending definitely sounds like John though, so...

3 February 1967: Paul's vocal added to take 6. There were NO additional vocal overdubs done for the song. The next work was the orchestra added on 10 February (Paul's idea to use an orchestra for the empty 24 bars). The orchestra alone took up all four tracks (based on recording the section four times), which were reduced to one. The song was then mixed into mono on 13 February with no additional overdubs. Or There are no additional vocal overdubs documented. And couldn't John and Paul have been singing together on a take anyway?

The ending is the part that sounds the most like Paul to me!

Well, I do feel a lot of points that we, the minority, have brought up do at the very least make a very strong case for it being Paul. We're a sensitive, small minority, you know. [IMG]

I must say though that we should only debate this over here:
