They are the ones that got the big okay to go into production, Moss would've been instructed to recut them if they were not approved.

Something I've been thinking about today: the final chord on ADITL could have been given the much-used varispeed technique to bring it down one octave for a more sonorous effect (with a much-elongated decay time as part of the process, which is something they were striving for when mixing the track) if George Martin and crew wanted it to.

I was convinced it was Paul until around 0:14, which REALLY sounds like John. The world will never truly know.

And John could mimic Paul - I was shocked when I saw John singing "She Loves You" at the end of "All You Need Is Love" !

They WERE singing together! So was George! That's what's so funny about this "proof" of it being John. The question is, who was singing the aaaaahs, and it is not known.

That is both of them. Paul starts, then John sings along with him.

(Just made a different video that also shows a pitched down version)

Is it possible that they messed around with the pitch? They did that a few times on Sgt. Pepper.

I think when it's pitched down it almost definitely sounds like Paul

Never thought of trying that, I think it helps the "Paul sang Ahhs" society! Cool. [IMG]

Once again we have the objectivist vs. subjectivist debate on the forum. This time it's about a recording rather than equipment!

However, this is a case when there is only one true correct answer to the question. No alternative facts!

I am sitting here playing the clip over and over again trying very hard to make it John, and I can't.

    Because it's Paul.

I hear them both. Not at the same time, just that it could sound like either one of them. Someone should just ask Paul.

To be honest… these Ahhhs don't intrigue me too much. I'm more interested in who's doing the Nah-Ahhhs on the Decca tapes

    I agree.

In fact, I cannot listen to Rubber Soul from beginning to end without I've Just Seen A Face kicking things off. The US did it right making RS a more acoustic product.

After dozens of pages of Carnival of Light, Penny Lane promo and clucks, we'll get some of "Ahhh"s. At least we'll have something to talk until Friday. :)

Great job. Awesome. And there's the proof. To what we all know. It's unmistakably Paul.

I don't doubt that. I was pointing out that it's far more likely people hear John because it sounds like John to them, and not because "when Paul does something truly majestic it's not allowed, that's supposed to be John's territory, Paul is supposed to be the cute one who only writes songs about Submarines..." You said that's the only rationale you can come to grips with for people hearing John.

Who cares who sung it - this piece of audio is breathtaking. And it comes through on a subliminal level in the full mix. What artistry!

Paul was good at sounding like John, and vice versa. Notice how on a lot of solo Paul/Wings songs you can find either Paul or Linda (and later Denny Laine) basically doing a John imitated harmony.

The story goes that Paul did a John imitation and added a co-lead vocal on "Real Love", and you never would have guessed that's Paul.

The "Not 'alf"s from "The Sheik Of Araby"? John low, Paul high.

It was disc jockey Alan "Fluff" Freeman's catchphrase:
