On Monday, June 19th, on WFMU, Vicki will be join with Wobbly on her radio-show.... TALKING!
    Upcoming events:
    Monday, June 19th, 6pm - 7pm: Over The Edge
From 1981 to 2015, Negativland's Don Joyce hosted Over The Edge, the longest running block of freeform live mix collage radio in broadcast history -- a program which continues today, having been inherited by long time show participant and collaborator Jon Leidecker. In this very Wobbly interview, Vicki and Jon discuss the history of collage radio, and the slow evolution of the Edge, as well as its many possible futures, both True and False.

This link 'Over The Edge', takes you to their gigantic archive!!!
TONS of old 'OTE's' can be found there....and here:

I'll be listening.... hope you all will, too!

What is that? One of them actually put the master of their work onto a broadcast cart?! Brilliant!

Negativland just makes me feel stupid; for years I thought, oh I don't care about these guys, apparently they're some sort of college art band...

    -no, idiot: not, "college"..."COLLAGE"...!

Don used to work EXCLUSIVELY with 'broadcast carts'!!!
He didn't even like 'samplers', in the '80's!
When the wife and I saw them in DC, he sat behind 4 of those cart machines, with TONS of carts!
He would grab and play them; some on a loop, some just once!
As the years went by, he DID finally work on some computers, but, he always loved the 'carts'!
So much so that, when he died, they included one 'cart' along with a bag of his ashes to all of us who ordered this past Negativland album!

That's one helluva way to order extra broadcast carts...

The cart pictured is particularly special, because Don would end almost every show with a woman's voice, that would say:
    "To create is divine.
to reproduce is human. - Man Ray"

Thanks for the heads up Vince! The Wobbly interview was excellent. I started listening to the Weatherman interview also. I do wish the interviewer was a little more focused with his questions, but it's nice to hear David get a chance to talk about the Negativland experience from his perspective.

Also caught the 'Dick Vaughn' cable access show on David's website. Only Richard and David could make frying a grape with 600 volts into riveting entertainment. I think the highlight for me was when Richard got the German Goodwill lady from Martinez to help him degunk his carburetor. Richard really was the absurdists absurdist...

I noticed the funding campaign for the Negativland doc is closed. I hope that means they reached their goals and that this will see the light of day soon...

I'm sure it'll happen one of these days...... the important thing is, they keep on keepin' on!
IN FACT, you can hear a bit of (what MIGHT be) the 'new stuff' on last week's "OTE"..... sounds promising!
Try to take the time to check it out!

The title comes from this crazy video someone took while in a VR room, where someone apparently suffers from a seizure!

    And, don't forget;
Part 2 of the Mark Hosler interview is up at Mid-Valley Mutations:
The Mark Hosler Interview Part II (#87) | Mid-Valley Mutations
It's funny; both he and Wobbly seem to take some sort of responsibly for today's 'fake news' world, in Negativland's 'media pranks' ! And now..... they may be 'fighting back' with a new project!
    Very exciting!
