You could do far, far worse than "Get Shorty", I can assure you!

It is kind of a stinker, though.

I made the mistake of watching it alone a night and it freaked me.

But the segment when he meets his fiance's family is just hilarious. I've never been bored with Eraserhead either. So much going on in that film, I don't think I'll ever complete the puzzle.

I am a big Matt Damon fan. But I couldn't sit through all (seemingly) 17 hours of The Martian. It went on and on. I should have just watched Cast Away again.

200 Motels comes to mind but that was 40 years ago so maybe if I watched it now I would like it.

Hard to believe this POS has a 6.8 rating on IMDB. That's about 6.7 too high.

  8. One person who loved it--the star the late great Jack Nance. Jack had a shrine to the film in his apartment (but curiously he chose not to answer questions about it when I asked him as I handed him my rent check)

I wouldn't say this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, simply because I actually made it through the entire film (which is a lot more than I can say for some other movies).... but Jess Franco's 1977 women-in-prison flick Love Camp was a real endurance test. I've seen tons of Franco's other films, and I pretty much know what to expect when I start watching one... but I just couldn't believe that a film with as much wall-to-wall female nudity as Love Camp could be so utterly un-sexy and non-titillating. Seriously, there's barely a single frame in the film's entire 78-minute running time that isn't packed with naked women and sexual situations... and yet I found myself frequently checking the clock and thinking "man, when is this thing going to be over?" :p

I saw Glen or Glenda in the theater, it is one of the few times I was really just stunned, if anything worse than Plan 9....funny as hell in places...

  11. I love Get Shorty. On the other hand...Freejack is a piece of crap on toast with a big budget.

  12. Seems a lot of folks have confused bad movies with movies they hated. There is a difference.

John Travolta's second-best film performance IMO. Not a great film, but better
than 50% of the films that rate highly on IMDb or RT.

Naw. Back then Lynch was genuinely weird. Like Tarantino however, he bought into his own shtick and his late-career
    films suffered from self-conscious-itis.

What's the difference? Both were basically a mouthful of ****.

  18. I like some of Lynch's work particularly Twin Peaks. Eraserhead is an art film (not saying it's good--just bizarre and surreal).

On the other hand, I've always felt that Lynch was a less interesting David Cronenberg who is genuinely ceeepy and Cronenberg's films always feel like he isn't thinking too hard--just working from his gut.

  19. Dances with Wolves...I mean Avatar was pretty cool looking though.
