It is one of the most highly-requested Golden Age 3-D titles. You will be amazed with our next 3-D restoration. The Maze - 3dfilmarchive William Cameron Menzies' THE MAZE is coming soon to 3-D Blu-ray from our good friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics!
I don't give a damn if they were a flop, I still want a 3-D capable television. Does anyone make one in 4k?
Vintage 3-D was filmed with two cameras/two lenses and you are actually seeing a left/right stereoscopic image. Most of the modern films are shot flat and post-converted, many quite badly.
Given that I was concerned that it might be difficult to find a 4K 3D TV in the future, I bought an LG OLED earlier this year.
I would say that is mostly true, but I think it also has a lot to do with filmmaker intent. Robert Zemeckis did "The Walk" as a post conversion movie and meticulously designed shots and set pieces to exploit the intended 3D presentation. There are sometimes even 3D effects and shots you can achieve with a post conversion that would be difficult to impossible shooting in native 3D. That being said, a number of conversions (the last couple of Star Wars movies, for instance) seem to be done as afterthoughts. Conversely, some directors shoot in native 3D, but do not always look to exploit the Z-axis. I think Ridley Scott has been guilty of this in some instances. In any case, golden age 3D films were not only shot natively, but universally produced with an intent to exploit the possibilities of the format.
Most were photographed by incredibly talented veterans of cinematography, many with resumes dating back to the dawn of cinema.
Yes, the 55" C6 (curved screen) has 3D. Maybe some of the other sizes/models do as well, but many of them are not 3D so you have to check the specs. I would have preferred a flat screen since I view the curve as just a gimmick, but the curve is subtle and hasn't bothered me.
Not just the C. The E & G series are also 3D in 2106 (not 2017, unfortunately), so you don't have to subject yourself to the curve to get great 3D. I have a 65E6 & it is amazing.
I bought this one and it's been fantastic. Most 4K tvs have 3D as well. BuyDig.com - Samsung UN55HU8550 - 55 inch 4K 3D Smart Ultra HDTV Open Box 1 Year Warranty
I will be a great new feature for them to introduce in a couple of years to get everyone to buy new TVs again. I got last years Sony 4K which was the last to have HDTV 3D, they dropped it this year.
But ..films are still shot in 3D ( some blockbusters ) old 3d films ( 1950s) released on blu ray, Folk who already have a large 3D BD collection, big Asia market...makes sense, to maintain making 3D TVs ?
How do projectors compare with 4K TVs. Also ..3-D Blu Ray players to compliment/projector compatibility?
