Almost everyone on Youtube was griping about all of the extreme close-ups of Dave and Norm. It was very distracting. Nevertheless, it was a good interview.
I was a gag. Letterman said "Only For You" to Norm, then cut. Letterman wanted to stop doing the "Top 10 List" 20 years ago, but kept it due to demand from viewers and CBS.
Maybe so but it doesn't look like a gag in this interview with Norm. The card truly had a top ten listed and David really takes a moment to review it before reciting it. My feeling is that Norm felt it was very special for Dave to have done a top ten for him that he kept the moment just for himself. I thought it was a sweet gesture as an admirer and friend of Letterman.
And by the way the extreme closeups on the Letterman interview looked much better on TV than on a phone/computer.
I think anyone who can prevent an interview with Mike Tyson from running off the rails deserves his own show especially given the dips who are currently on the air. Norm and Marc Maron are far superior interviewers IMHO.
That was a great episode. Rare to see Seinfeld give a comedian so much room to develop ideas outside of his own show. It shows he truly respect Norm in spite of the vast difference in style and approach.
It's funny, the whole time I was thinking of what a control freak Jerry is. At points, it was is he thought it was his show. Norm, on the other hand, showed tremendous respect for Jerry by no doing any of his dark/off color stuff. And I loved how he called out Jerry for using old references, after Jerry tried to call out Norm on Comedian's Getting Coffee for using old terms.
Think it's colored by your perspective because I didn't see anything close to anybody calling out anyone.
Really liked this one. It seemed so natural, like three people (and a dog) hanging out and shooting the breeze. And I thought it was cool how Sarah talked about how her understanding of the effect of certain words has changed.
Caitlyn Jenner on the show today went better than I expected, proves Norm can interview anyone and make it interesting. But HooBoy! The likes and hates on Youtube are almost even, and the comments are more 'vulgar' and 'rawer' than usual.
Norm continues to prove very capable at bringing back the old style Tom Snyder Tomorrow/Late, Late show and coupling it with a sense of humor only he can do. Must see for me every week.
Anyone now if Norm's show is coming back? And what happened to all those youtube links, which now all seem to be dead?
