I bought his Obscure Records, Gavin Bryers/ Eno's music for films, other stuff last album I thought was half decent was Before And After Science but I didn't buy it. Only seen him live once that was in 1974, but bumped into him a couple of times.
"Warszawa" is the only real Eno track on "Low". So if you don't like Side 2, blame Bowie himself. Also, you're wrong.
I do not doubt that. At that time in America, Bowie was known as the British Alice Cooper. So I am sure he was very aware of what Alice was putting out. The theatrics of the Cooper Billionaire shows cropped up in Bowies shows around this time. I think David was looking for an older audience thopugh, which is why he stayed away from the dentist. Young kids HATE dentist.
Just a couple of hundred times (ie: any time I spin the album) I believe Alice was no dentist fan if Unfinished Sweet was to be believed.
I thought that you concluded that only the silence between the tracks was any good. As such I didn't really see that as a question about what I liked about the record, more you stating your musical superiority. And I'm sorry to disappoint but I did not log in to reply in this thread. Sorry
At first I didn't care for Diamond Dogs very much, but I've grown to appreciate it and it's probably a top 5 Bowie album for me now.
"Pretty great, worth recommendin" Tempted to go with "true classic" but decided to save that for the toppity-top. Still, I love the album!
I wasn't expecting that much when I first heard this at University many, many years ago. However, it struck me quite deeply and whilst the accepted critical standing was somewhat lower than Zigggy, I enjoyed this just as much (possibly more). The introduction works really well in setting a mood, something that makes listening to this album in its whole, essential. It's a great journey into the creative mind of Bowie.
After listening to "I've Been Waiting For You" a few dozen times I was surprised to find out it was a cover. Being so gray and moody, it fits so well on 'Heathen'. Same with "Criminal World". I must have heard that a hundred times before I realized he copied it.
Too be honest I don't like any of his covers even tbe Beatles one,but tbe Neil Young song is something special excellent rendition from Bowie.
You do not like "Kingdom Come" from Scary Monsters? That is another that I originally thought was Bowie's.
