    England's No.1 Vocal Group The Beattles at #35?

    This chart has been well documented by Beatlefan, Bruce Spizer, etc as Vee Jay and WLS were both in Chicago and had a good working relationship.

    On the surface, a song called "Please Please Me" by a group called The Beat(t)les fit right in with this list of acts. Who could have predicted how things were about to change?

    My dad graduated high school in May 1963 in suburban Chicago.

    His friend was one of the first US Beatles superfans.

    He made letters of a clay or plaster concoction spelling out The Beatles and put them on the side of his high school junkmoblie in the spring of 1963.

    Not sure if he spelled it The Beattles or not!

    I don't remember hearing PPM until after I Want to Hold Your hand had been on the charts for a while.
