It's my own personal 'conspiracy theory' that:
IT was the 'sweet-heart' deal from CBS that put the idea in MJ's head to 'acquire' the Beatles catalogue....as a kind of 'revenge'!

But there should be 3 physical formats? So no downloads i guess, or at least cd's too..

If I remember correctly, maccawings or mikeferrera wrote that there would be three physical configurations.

Did one of the clues say "3 physical formats" or just "3 formats"?

The earliest clues also seemed more focused on COLOR though. No sure how CDs fit into that game plan.

Whatever is happening, it's like playing a mystery game. I'm enjoying it...

also, is an LP box and separate LP's counted as two different formats? I don't think it should..

But only the clue-providers know the answer to that. They might consider it as two? I don't know.

I don't trust their announcements anymore ,between the supposed "comprehensive" plan we were supposed to get and all those "coming soon" cards, I don't think I can trust em anymore

It would be strange, though, to NOT have downloads as an option. After the whole uproar of the Download-Only material included in the deluxe Flowers In The Dirt Archive set, suddenly they now decide to NOT do any downloads.

Will MPL flip-flop here now? Weird...

    Don't trust 'em.

But despite the slow pace and delays, every Archive set that had been promised (or advertised) was released. Only the "Coming Soon" part was inaccurate.

so if the colours are red, yellow, white, orange, blue, silver and clear?
I guess there is one colour missing. But if the first is red, then I would say it's the McCartney album. Yellow fits with RAM, but that should be the orange one I guess? HAHA

But why would downloads be one of the formats when all of those albums are already available to download?

My guess is that they'll wait until Ringo's new album is released next week before making any announcement. If that's the case, and an announcement is made in a couple of weeks, then we'll be looking at a mid November release date.

A box set of coloured vinyl LPs is my guess, as others have said. Perhaps made available as a CD box set too.

Once that's out of the way we can look forward to the new Beatles pre Christmas release....

That would be extremely disappointing. More regurgitation of already released music. Why no stand-alone archive releases, like his contemporarities? Or a new album...how many years has it been? How people get excited about this is beyond me, but I guess they just respond like Pavlovian dogs, regardless of what is thrown in their direction. It has all been so poorly executed.

I love this idea people seem to have that Paul and Ringo don't release or announce albums too close to each other so as not to overshadow each other's albums... Sure back in 1970 it was a genuine issue, but that was because it was the Beatles' last album! As recently as 2012, Paul and Ringo released albums within a week of each other.

Ringo's albums get overshadowed by Paul's anyways regardless of when they're released. :)

Its true that Paul and Ringo are not 'The Beatles' anymore, but I do feel that they, their labels, and many of their fans, still look at their releases as being from a Beatle, regardless of sales, and because of this they don't like to release too much 'Beatles product' at the same time if they can help it.

For this reason, even though McCartney is touring, I wouldn't be surprised if he delays his new LP so as not to clash with all the upcoming releases.
