Just noticed the FITD Deluxe version is out of stock on Amazon.com Is this set going out of print already? I seem to remember the other Archive Collection deluxe sets being on sale forever?
I noticed that as well. There may be a few possibilities. 1.) The set is already out of print (possibly sold a lot more than anticipated or less were made to begin with). 2.) Amazon is planning on restocking them shortly. I did notice one set earlier today stating ships from and sold by Amazon, but it disappeared.
What's really weird is that the DVD soundtrack of the Put It There special is in mono. When the program was originally shown on cable TV and released on VHS, it was in stereo.
FITD Deluxe is still topping my list of reissues of the year with the Pepper Deluxe in second place. Unless the Neil Young Original release boxes prove to be more played and enjoyed, I reckon FITD will still finish first amongst the stuff I buy..
They also went to the trouble of editing the Jimmy Savile part of it out to avoid controversy. Understandable, though also a little annoying.
I can't believe this set is out of stock on Amazon already and cannot be had for less than $150! This is the only Archive set I don't have. I couldn't bring myself to buy it because it was so ridiculously overpriced compared to the others. I'm still hoping Amazon will get more in stock and list it as a "Gold Box" deal around the holidays.
The thing is essentially junk anyway...with all the pertinent material as download only, and not even remastered.
The previously unknown Macca-Costello cowrites 1. So like Candy 2. Playboy To A Man 3. Tommy's Coming Home 4. Twenty Fine Fingers 5. Flying To My Home Allowed me to play excecutive producer, dump a couple weaker tracks ( or relegate them) to a bonus disc... How Many People, Oui Est Le Soilel, Rough Ride, My new 12-13 song Flowers using some of the better songs, elevates the quality of Flowers to BOTR, Tug Of War, or anything since the Beatles.
Previously unknown? Also Elvis didn’t co-write Flying to My Home. Anyway, point taken and Lovers That Never Were should have been on there. Best Of the bunch.
1. My brave face 2. This One 3. Put it there 4. You want her too 5. We got married 6. Distractions 7. Playboy to a man 8. So like Candy 9. Figure Of Eight 10 Twenty Fine Fingers 11. That day is done Something like that
I would have preferred something like… SIDE A: Figure Of Eight Rough Ride You Want Her Too So Like Candy Distractions We Got Married SIDE B: My Brave Face The Lovers That Never Were This One Put It There I Wanna Cry That Day Is Done With the CD bonus track being "Motor Of Love." "Back On My Feet" would have been slotted into All The Best! CD single 1: "My Brave Face" / "Flying To My Home" / "Ou Est Le Soleil?" / "Good Sign" CD single 2: "This One" / "The First Stone" / "Twenty Fine Fingers" / "Party Party" CD single 3: "Figure Of Eight" / "Rough Ride" (rehearsal) / "How Many People" / "Don't Be Careless Love" CD single 4: "Distractions" / "We Got Married" / "The Long And Winding Road" (rehearsal) / "Loveliest Thing" CD single 5: "Put It There" / "Mama's Little Girl" / "Same Time Next Year" / [live track here] There would be two 12" singles – "Figure Of Eight" (7" remix) / "This One" (love joys) / "Good Sign" (groove mix) is the first, "Ou Est Le Soleil" remixes the second. That leaves the cover tracks (which could be an EP or LP release of their own), "Playboy To A Man" and "Tommy's Coming Home." The latter two I would include in Off The Ground's set after some slight work.
Is this any good for you? Deal alert / Paul McCartney: Flowers in the Dirt super deluxe edition box set
The more I listen to the demo of Distractions, that the finished version should have sounded more like the demo. In other words a simpler sound would have really fit the song.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but a new Christmas collection out today has another remake of "Wonderful Christmastime," this time by Paul & The Roots.
Holiday's rule vol. 2 Paul's track was also released as a digital download single on 22, September. And it is also getting a black Friday rsd vinyl release
Is Paul McCartney a member of “Paul and the Roots” or is it a cover by the Roots with some other dude named Paul?
