I feel bad for folks that don't dig this Sinatra material but I do and I'm happy to see two new songs make their premiere. If he wanted to "get it out of his system" I'd love to see him do a tour where he does nothing but those songs and then move on to something else. Otherwise, I'm fine to see some of the set held over for them.

Or picks songs that he knows will piss off a few people which is fun too. :)

Just play Knocked Out Loaded and Down in the Groove in sequence with Wiggle Wiggle as an encore. :D

It's not just that they're Sinatra songs, why not include covers of other artists as well, just to "change it up" a little. Same with his own material, why not change it up a little. It's really not that the set list is bad, not at all. My big problem is I'm a retiree on a very limited fixed budget, and it's virtually the same show I saw about a year and a half ago, and can't justify the $$ this time around. I own many Sinatra albums and grew up listening to him as a child, so for me, it's not that I don't dig Sinatra, I'm hoping he changes the set list so I can justify (to the boss, my wife) spending money to see Bob again. Bob has certainly earned the right to play whatever he wants, that is undisputed.

  5. Setlists looks good, I just wish he were playing a smaller venue, at least near me.

It's a Sinatra song, #19 on this tracklist:

Was anyone at the Funner, CA show last night? Care to give an assessment of the show? As someone asked above, did Mavis open the show?

Wow! This is truly shocking, no sarcasm. The Buffalo show is nearly sold out. I wish I were still in the midwest. Although it looks like it might be lonely in there. Me thinks it will pick up eventually.

Basically the same setlist he's used for the last 20 years, give or take the newer stuff. Idk, I haven't followed him in recent years, maybe he retired some of the old warhorses for awhile?

I always hope any artist plays what they want. I don't think I ever wanna feel like fans are dictating a setlist. I just want to hear the chosen songs played well. Last Dylan show I went to was on the AmericanaramA tour. It was dull because his croak and the uninspired band made each song sound about the same.

Perhaps he's of an age where he finds it too wearying to change things up nightly like he did when he was a spry 60-year-old. Static setlists have been a thing for Bob for (correct me if I'm wrong) about a decade now. And, really, you can look back to past tours from 1965, 1966, 1974, 1978, 1979-1981, 1984, 1986, and even some years of the NET back in the day, when the setlist was somewhat rigid if not unbending.

I enjoyed the times when I could go to a bunch of shows and see something different every night. But those were arguably the exceptions, not the rule, in Bob's life as a live performer.

I have less of a problem with the setlist itself, than I do paying to see the same setlist I've already seen a bunch of times.

Totally agree, my last sentence says it all. Glad Bob is still here to amaze us with his infinite talent.

    According to boblinks.com:
    • Setlist virtually identical in four shows so far.
    • Bob has played no guitar or mouth harp.
    • The shows Mavis opened are the same set she did last time out.
No complaints here, looking forward to Monday's show.

A prescient prediction, the entire floor and front half of the sides are now sold out for Omaha.

Why do they still book him into large venues? At this point his live appeal has reached it's most selective phase. His audience is either dead, seen him enough times or can't stand the last 5 slabs of vinyl/plastic.

Great venue! I saw Bob there in 1991 with Jimmy Dale Gilmore opening. It was an amazing show, best I’ve ever seen with Bob — surpassed only by his Philly appearance in 74 with the Band.

He came out wearing a top hat and mumbled “Detroit huh? They told me not to play here.” He played an electrifying show, including the entire acoustic side of Bringing it All Back Home and, stunningly, Elmore James’ Dust My Broom.

Betting he’ll put on a fine show.
