Are the deleted scenes taken from the rough cut John Hughes had?

Criterion? Wow, this is an art film as of 2017?

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

I guess now and then they release movies that will generate cash supplementing the "Art Films" that don't always bring in the "Gold"...

Me: Was really hoping the first Molly Ringwald film on Criterion would be 'King Lear.'

What are one other ones like this, though? I think of The Breakfast Club as ultra mainstream.

This is a fun film to revisit from time to time. When I saw it around age 13 or 14, I thought, "Man, being a teenager is going to be cool!"

No. The 2015 re-release from Universal was from a new 4K scan.

Criterion has been releasing "non-art films" for their entire existence. They have this reputation as a crew that only puts out obscure "high-brow" fare but it's not accurate...

I remember all the bitchin' and moanin' when they released that on DVD...a movie that was below their standards...too bad all the great bonus features and the extended cut is relegated to a non anamorphic DVD release...

Didn't they also release The Rock and Silence of the Lambs?

The deleted scenes are just 50 minutes of Emilio Estevez taping peoples' butt cheeks together.

I'm guessing the extra footage may only be VHS or SD sourced. Hughes had a 150 min rough cut for a movie that ended up being 97 mins, with all extra footage rumored to be junked. Some will deleted scenes and some will be added lines from scenes we all know. Wonder if you can see the 150m version via seamless branching or it's just a 50 min clump.

Looks like about 4 features are from the Hughes estate vault, which is a home video first.

Is Emilio Estevez MIA on the bonus stuff? Plus you have to keep the other Blu rays because some documentaries were not ported over.

Some debate and evidence that CC are also doing 16 Candles and Fast Times.

When people talk about "commercial" movies in the criterion collection that aren't that great, surprised the 1987 Laserdisc of the Beatles HELP! isn't brought up more often.

Yes - and many other popular/non-art house movies.

Among Criterion's 1st 40 DVDs, you had titles like "Robocop", "Time Bandits", "Spinal Tap" and 2 John Woo movies. It's not all Bergman and Fellini...

And Ally Sheedy drinking vodka. I'd be up for a bonus video of Meryl Streep as Julia Child making a Cap'n Crunch & Pixy Stix sandwich.

  24. Wait! You were already a teenager.

Yeah, but I was comparing myself to 20-something actors playing teenagers!
No really, I was a late bloomer. I was still reading comic books at that age.
