Help from talented people, extra production to give it mustard, female backing vocals, and the charm the artist has by being a drummer in a famous band.
There's those Ringo albums, Keith Moon's, Peter Criss (1978 KISS solo album)... any others you can recommend?
And bad reviews just gives it a bigger kick to me.

I don’t think this thread is about:
    Face Value (Phil Collins)
    nor
Building the Perfect Beast (Don Henley)

I’ve never heard it, but I think this falls into that category.

Only a high energy guest appearance from Peter Green makes it worth owning. And a certain George Harrison appears on guitar on the Mac cover Walk A Thin Line.
Otherwise; drummer with too much money and coke.

    Tommy Lee is probably eligible.

EDIT: Oh yeah, look at this:
    Tommyland: The Ride - Wikipedia

Dennis Wilson, Don Henley and Phil Collins are definitely not.

I would say Dave Grohl is ineligible also.

It's not 'that certain kind of album' but it is certainly a kind of album...

I like this one, from an album that is the opposite of what the OP decscribes. Low key production, no guests...

Roger Taylor, from Fun In Space.

I guess Jim Capaldi doesn't qualify, either

Those Buddy Rich tribute albums that Neil Peart was behind, I felt was pretty solid!

Its a failed concept from the start when you put Ringo and some guy from Kiss in the same category.

Not if you've personally had to suffer albums from those 2.

Actually, suprisingly good album.....but definitely fits the bill of the thread.

I love Charlie Watts and like Jim Keltner but the album they did in tribute to other percussionists went back to the store. Go figure.
I found The Tony Williams Lifetime bands a failed experiment as well. :hide: Loved him before & after, though.
