I don’t know anything about him, so I can’t tell you how I feel about him as a vocalist. But as I said when the guys fired Scott Weiland and hired Chester Bennington as his replacement, I wish they’d put the Stone Temple Pilots name to rest (like they did in the ’90s with Talk Show).

Scott was such a vital part of that band; Stone Temple Pilots without him is like Lucky Charms without the marshmallows.

I listened to the two youtube links I posted and I can't say I am a fan at all.

Ok I'll admit, the guy has a strong voice. That said, can he wrote or have star power? You know, Scott didn't always get that credit when he was alive because of what a prick he was, but he had a real presence, and his lyrics and melodies were great as well.

They are. They’re great, in fact, but what made Stone Temple Pilots great was their flashy, uniquely charismatic (but troubled) lead singer. Eric and the DeLeos understood that in the ’90s when they embarked upon the Talk Show project.

I wish 'em the best - the bros + Eric are killer musicians and their chops should not go to waste. I personally would have gone "out there" - found a girl, or a black dude, or something. It would have made comparisons harder. But maybe the new fella will work out. Good luck ...

If it were my band anyone who'd ever been on one of those shows would be instantly disqualified. It's just so cheesy and un-rock n roll. I don't know why they'd want to be associated with that sort of thing at all.

I am luckily enough to have seen STP with Scott at the Hollywood Bowl back in 2008, no other singer will ever be "THE" STP singer for me.

Would you change your name if it would cut your pay by 75 percent?

I'm dyslexic so I thought his name was Jett Gutt.

I can hear Ed Sullivan now, "Ladies and gentleman, Jett Gutt!"

If you were truly dyslexic it’d be Jett Guff. Here’s some true dyslexia: Hk suces.

They're just handing the "Gutt a Bust" line to all sorts of Internet critics.

A girl singer was the way to go, especially after their performance with Joss Stone proved how well it could have worked.

This poor guy won't stand a chance due to constant comparison to the origional singer....

I mean look how it hampered Sammy Hagar's career!!

I've been so sick of 90s style baritone singers for so long....I liked STP, but it ran it's course IMO.
I thought Velvet Revolver was incredibly boring. This guy is a talented singer, but these covers show nothing unique to me, and that "Dream on" was embarrassing.. Some Michael Bolton in there.

All that said, STP has their place in history, but I doubt I'd pay 20 bucks to see them in a club with Jeff Gutt... I guess the band needs to eat, and this is a good way to do it......

$$$$$$. Plain and simple. Talk show = no ticket sales. Same reason Joey Molland tours as "Badfinger".
