I taped a random afternoon broadcast of WNUR Evanston in the fall of '85. They played Jewel. All by accident and now my favorite 80's album and top 10 all time. Every single second of Secret Wish is just perfect. I listen to this album and I'm a young man right back in 1980's Chicago.

I take back what I said after listening tonight. I like it too. I may have been thinking of the FGTH SACD.

Haha! I almost wrote "where's Lazlo when you need him" when I posted earlier. If I remember correctly, the very first "US" CDs were pressed overseas and had the official CD tracklist. Then, when they started pressing them in the US, they used the LP masters (by mistake?) I wasn't complaining because that's the version I was used to.

That looks like the vinyl tracklist without "Frozen Faces" and the short "Strength To Dream" as closer. Definitely not the 1985 digital running order.

But I guess you'd need an academic degree to correctly identify all variations of this album.

You should get another cd version. It's worth it!

No that US CD does have the original vinyl track list - it never included Frozen Faces. It is the only CD released that had the vinyl version on it, to my knowledge.

Simply buy the following CD to have all songs / versions of the album + lots of bonus material:

    Propaganda - A Secret Wish

The mastering is excellent !!! It's a pleasure to listen !!!

I agree, but excluding “!!!”. This the only mainstream remaster that I still own. Although it doesn’t better the original CD, it is a very good master on its own.

PS. Still learning every day. I didn’t know Frozen Faces wasn’t on the original LP. Love that track!

That's basically what I was saying?! "The vinyl tracklist without 'Frozen Faces'"" Because the 1985 vinyl was always without that track which is from.... ooooh.. the "Mabuse" 12"?

Misunderstanding; the phrase "the vinyl tracklist without Frozen Faces" to me looked like you were saying it WAS on there! Sorry.

Something that is a little forgotten is that version of Duel that the group released online in 2000 - has it ever been out in higher resolution than a 128 mp3?

That's a nice edition indeed, bought it for my girlfriend years ago. But at the moment Propaganda in general seems to be dirt cheap. I see those different Island CDs from the 80's and 90''s in 3€ bins all the time. And the 1985 vinyl is a 5€ album over here.

Frozen Faces was the b side to P:Machinery.

‘Outside’ is another must-have CD. It has excellent variations on Frozen Faces and other key tracks.

Never any Propaganda or Brucken stuff at the record stores here day or night. Sad

Hopefully its not for the same reasons of having tons and tons of Journey records in San Francisco, Propaganda is everlasting!!

Do we think this is the same as the release listed on Amazon -

Propaganda: A Secret Wish - Art of the Album edition

A very special Art Of The Album deluxe edition of this seminal record will be released on 26th January 2018. Featuring new sleeve notes within both the CD & 180g LP formats recalling the story of the band’s conception and the album’s creation.Comprehensively researched and written by renowned ZTT archivist and journalist Ian Peel, these new sleeve notes cover in-depth the story of the album & the period in which it was written & recorded, the key players in its creation, the craft and instrumentation, the impact upon release and its legacy some 34 years later. The booklet is accompanied by memorabilia from Ian’s personal archive.
Both the CD and LP version have also been remastered from the original tapes at Sarm Studio where it was first recorded.
