There was so much hype wrapped around this guy, he could never live up to the expectations. It's interesting how his career has developed; he's now a gifted composer for shows like Girls and Masters Of Sex.

I think Michael Penn's Resigned album lives up to and exceeds expectations and is one of the best (power) pop albums of all time. I rank it right up there with the Fabs Revolver and Big Star's Radio City. Unfortunately his follow-up work never came close to that peak IMO

Odd that I am listening to Third Stage when listening to this but Boston does not deserve to be on this list. Maybe in another 20 years but not now. Forgotten?
